!! - The chapter contains TordMatt as a background relationship.
--------------------
The prince opens the bar doors and enters in the saloon, walking happy until he reaches the bartender. Todd is turned away, putting some bottles in the shelf. Matthew taps his fingers against the wood of the counter, getting his attention. "Good morning, Todd! How are things around here today, hm?" He says in a sympathetic way. Todd smiles when he recognizes the prince's voice. He turns to face the blonde. "Good morning, my highness. It's monday, so things are a bit boring' for now. Will you want the same as usual?"
He nods. "Yes, please. And I've already told you, it's not necessary to call me like that." Todd takes a bottle of orange juice from under the counter and slides it to the prince. "I was saving this for you. By the way, did you come alone? I thought Mr. Gold and the sheriff would come here too." "Oh Thom and Ed will be here soon. They had a little problem on the way here, so I could go ahead."
Actually it was a big problem. On the way to the bar, Edward heard heavy hazing sounds from the distance, so he and the sheriff went to check what it was, leaving Matthew safely at the bar door. They found out later that some bandits had stolen five horses, and Susan (Thompson's horse) was unfortunately between them. It would be a little hard to get all the horses back, but nothing impossible. After all, whenever Edward took a sip of that Cola, he could run faster than a train.
Half an hour has passed and the two finally arrive at the bar. The prince reaches up a hand when he sees his friends. "Wow, you guys took a while." Edward sighs, looking tired while walking towards Matthew. "Lacing all those horses was complicated, but after a lot of effort, we managed to get them all back." He shows a smile as he removes his hat. The prince looks at Thompson and noticed white bandages strips on his hands. "And what happened to you?"
"One of the ropes I used slipped and scraped both my hands. I think I need better ropes..." The sheriff looks at the bandages. They're a little reddened with blood, somehow his skin is still burning. He smiles a little bit when he sees a small knot with a bow at the end of one of the bands. He doesn't mention that Edward was the one who bandaged him. The detective sits next to Matthew and tells Thompson to do the same, saying that a nice cold drink would help him to forget about the pain.
The sheriff looks at Todd, his expression changing quickly as he glares at him. He hates that man. Thompson doesn't know how he used to call him a friend in the past. "What are you waiting for, jerk? Give me some alcohol to drink before I punch that ugly face of yours." Edward slaps his shoulder. "Oi, don't be so rude!" Todd glares with anger at him, but obeys and heads over to the whiskey bottles. The bartender looks back, the three seem too distracted by each other to notice his moviments.
Todd smiles in a wicked way. He takes a small pack of pills out of his apron pocket, he always keeps several of these to put in the drinks of customers who are rude to him. The result was always a surprise, as they were different pills with different effects. The bartender takes a random white pill and breaks it, squeezing in his fingers, pouring it over the whiskey. He never had done this with the sheriff's drink before, and it was a unique opportunity, since he was distracted.
Todd places the bottle on the counter, next to a small glass, with the modified drink already inside. "It was about time. Give me that!" Thompson says as he practically grabs the glass, drinking all the liquid at once, feeling the drink go down on his dry throat.
--------------------------------
Time passed, the prince was telling for them the first time that an american girl mistaken him with a prostitute when he was trying to date her. How did they come to this subject anyway? Edward laughed at Matthew's story, but Thompson wasn't paying too much attention, he was very quiet actually.
