Plan

Allie's Pov

I hate him. I really do. I know he hates me and he wants me dead, but why did he save me? He could've just let me rot in the cellar. I see his worried face when he sees me get sick. And how pain was written all over his face when I yelled at him. It's strange. He's my rival, he arrests me, he hurt me, but he's acting like he actually cares about me. He's like a painting in the gallery that I can never understand.

"Hey, you're awake? It's 2 am" Kelly said to me.
"Yeah, I can't sleep," I said. I looked at her, and she stares at me as if she was thinking about something.
"What's wrong Kel?" I asked.
"Nothing, I'm just. Apart from you getting sick, I'm just happy to see you" She said, smiling sadly. I reached her hand and held it tightly.
"Everything's a mess, Al. It's just been a week and it's chaos" she said, looking down.
"Chaos?" I asked, confused.

"First, they stopped doing their work. Only 25% of them are still doing it. And the rest were just doing anything they want. People steal the supermarket, the foods there are running low, I don't even think it'll make it through winter. They not only steal the supermarket and stores. They also steal other people's belongings. There's fights, vandalism." She explained.
"How could that be? I thought they really listen to Lexie?" I asked. I was confused. I've never talked to anyone, especially other than the one who comes to see me.

"Yes. The rules are still the same. They haven't changed the rules except for the house sharing thing. But the mayors are Harry and Lexie, Al. First, they know how much Harry wanted to be free from chores, work, house sharing and everything so they follow it. They want to be free. And they know Lexie hated you and the way you gave the rules, so they think they can be like her and just fuck Allie's rules." She stopped to catch a deep breath. "Little did they know that it was what kept us going, and alive for a year." Kelly said.
"I'm sorry" I said softly. It hurts to hear this story. The place that I've been trying to keep whole is now at the edge. It'll get wrecked soon. Suddenly a thought comes to my mind.

"And what about our latest plan? About farming and gardening?" I asked with hopes in my heart.
"You know how loyal Grizz, Bean and the others are. They felt like continuing with your plan while Harry and Lexie are mayors would be like a betrayal to you. So they didn't want to continue, cuz it'll be like supporting whatever it is that those bitches ,Haxie , is doing" she said.
"Haxie?" I asked confused.
"Harry and Lexie" Kelly stated as a matter of factly. I can't help but laugh at how ridiculous that sounds putting their two names together. Kelly sees me laugh and she smiled along. She touched my hand and sigh.

"I'm so sorry about Harry. I should've talked him into-." she started to say.
"No. Kelly. It is not your fault. He made a choice. Don't ever say sorry again." I said sooshing her.
"I know He's not my boyfriend anymore, and we totally don't love each other anymore. But I've known him forever. He's a family. And families take care of each other. And I didn't take care of him. So he made a ridiculous choice of doing d-." she pursed her lips abruptly as if she just said something really wrong.
"Choice of?" I said, asking her to continue.
"Choice of being a mayor" She said shakily, nodding her head. I decided to just believe her.

I looked out the window to see a head with brown curls leaning against the window.
"Is that?" I asked starting at the window.
"He doesn't wanna leave" she said.
"Why?" I asked angrily.
"I might be crazy, but I know him. And the way he acted just proves me that he really cares about you. I don't know why." She said.
"Your assumptions are wrong." I said starting to get hot headed thinking how ridiculous it sounds.
"I'm not wrong" She snapped
"You're wrong. You're being ridiculous. If he cared about me then, why? Why did he do all these?" I asked snapping back at her.

"Allie. I'm not smart, and I may be wrong about a lot of things. But I'm not wrong about this one." she stated. She looked down and back at me. "I have to go, I'm gonna sleep in the office right there if you need me" she said and walked to her office. It was next to Gordie's office. I looked up at the ceiling thinking about everything. How we ended up in this New Ham, about the mayor, about Lexie and Harry putting us in the cell. About harry treating me nice but he was the one who arrested me. Without realizing I fell asleep on a hospital bed. It felt nicer than the floor of the wine cellar.
