1# Unlikely dream

Subaru was sitting on an alley. This, like it or not, was real. He had been "isekaied". He had watched many shows like that. And if this was one of those, he would have some "awesome power" he would use to defeat evil or some dumb stuff like that. And also a busty girl would show up and help him on his quest, all the while jumping his bones because he was: "just that awesome". He scoffed at how stupid that seemed. But yet, he had been brought to a different world...

- Hey! You! - said a voice in front of him.

Subaru looked up frowning. Now what?!, he thought annoyed.

- Give me yer' money and we will go easy on ya.

It was a spindly teenager. Kind of malnourished. There wasn't much meat on him. Now, the big fellow at his side. That guy could feed a ghoul family for a month and a half, if not two. Oh, and there was also a comically tiny guy. Whatever.

- ...

As much as he felt like beating up those young would-be thugs, he had to TRY staying away from problems. Drawing attention to him would only make hiding his ghoul nature harder. And so, he stood up and cowered.

- Sorry - he said feigning a bit of fear. - I don't have any money. Please don't hurt me.

The skinny guy tch'ed angry at him.

- That's a lie. Last warning. Give us all you got! NOW!

- We ain't joking, man. Do as we say - threatened the big guy raising his fist.

- Don't try to run away! - added the little one.

Subaru deadpanned. Even being a teenager like those three, he was a ghoul. He had even sparred with his father, ghoul style. He would go easy on them, but put enough force to scare them off. No need no kill them with his bare fists. Let alone his kagune. Though he still hadn't feed. Well... I could have a bite, concluded Subaru in his mind while he took a fighting stance.

- OUT OF THE WAY! - said a new childish voice.

From the back of the alley, a petite blonde came running. Passing by the thugs and Subaru. Definetly someone running away. Well, if a mob is comming towards here, I better hurry, Subaru noted as the little girl launched herself to reach the roofs above. She knew how to parkour, he'd give her that.

A short silence passed, and then the three hoodlums finaly took notice of the posture of their target.

- Feeling brave, eh? Well, I have a surprise - announced the skinny one whipping out two knives.

Subaru had to fight an urge to sigh in disappointment. A regular knife against ghoul skin was a joke. He focused once again and dashed at inhuman speed. Plunging his fist into the stomach of the skinny guy, and slamming him on the wall like a rag doll. Sadly, there was now a blood stain on that same wall.

- Bastard! - swore the big fellow.

As Subaru twisted, he dodged a blow from those big arms. And just then, he leaped at him, bitting between the houlder and the neck. The blood flooding his mouth felt wonderfuly warm, and the meat tasted good, fresh. Subaru couldn't avoid having his eyes turn black from the stimulation of feeding. That could become a problem, but at least he had staved off his hunger for a time.

The big thug screamed, and Subaru grabed him by the arm and threw him to the ground with ease, interrupting his wailing. Then, he turned to the little guy, and just stared at him. His mouth covered in blood, his eyes black, each with red hot iris. Scarlet veins spreading from that blackness. Subaru himself didn't like to look at his reflection on that state.
