The crowd was rallied against the legendary mabeast. Spirits were high, and blood ran hot. Everyone marched eager to their carriage, earth dragon, or huge wolf mounts (in the iron fang's case), which were called ligers.
Subaru was informed that his gear was set, and promptly hopped on his earth dragon alongside Rem. Also caught up with Crusch, ready to be given directions.
Subaru could not help notice that the she had a pristine white earth-dragon, with fine saddle and all. The girl bought the premium mount DLC..., Subaru grumbled jokingly. That managed to ease his nerves a little.
After 'checking' his phone, and clearing some doubts to the woman, Crusch, her army, and Anastasia's army rode out of the city. Subaru, on the other hand stayed back. Better be left undisturbed. Things would take many turns. Too many for his comfort. Though, it was time for things like this. He just had to process, and put his thoughts in order. Then he would be able to face everything.
As the ride stretched, two little blond cat-children approached on their ligers. Subaru recognized one. He remembered it sitting beside Anastasia when they discussed hunting the White Whale on the previous loop, and also this one too, when ensuring a union with the three camps.
Mimi, she was called. Too carefree despite her youth in Subaru's eyes, knowing that she belonged to a mercenary company.
- Hi, Subaru! - Mimi greeted, smiling brightly.
- I am Hetaro, and she is Mimi, my sister. Nice to meet you - the other blond cat-child added, bowing his head with closed eyes.
Subaru's mind drifted for a moment. He and Anastasia had talked at length about the assault on the whale, and knew already these two would help on the battle. Mimi as second in command, after Ricardo. Underage... and still, second in command...
As a ghoul at the brink of adulthood, Subaru considered having youngsters partake on military operations as abominable. No matter how powerful or helpful they were. Was Emilia familiar with the concept of child soldiers? Would she dictate no involvement of minors in conflicts like these?
- A pleasure too... - Subaru replied, still watching the two ride along. - Name's Subaru.
- I'm glad you are joining us, my
- Where are you from? - Mimi interrupted, loudly cutting his brother, leaning towards Subaru. - How come we didn't hear about ya at some point before coming to us? Is this some sort of con?
Subaru stared at her, frozen, out of words.
- Uh... please excuse my sister, she tends do be like this - Hetaro hastily apologized, hoping not to upset his soon-to-be war buddy.
- Uh... no, it's... don't worry... - Subaru replied, knowing very they were right to distrust him.
- So? - Mimi pressed.
Subaru looked at her off put with the bluntness of the little girl.
- This is no trick, I only try to do the right thing, and I need help to do so - Subaru explained, straining to put the right words. - This time it's you the people with the means to help me. Hopefully, I will be able to solve my problems on my own next time! - Subaru almost complained.
- And where are you from? If it's true what we heard about you, it's weird we didn't hear about someone like you. Why is that?
Subaru mumbled for a brief moment, trying to figure out how to give the full story, and hide the problematic details. Anastasia seemed to have told more than she should to these two...
