After bidding the kind Yunho a soft goodbye, San went home and crashed on his bed, already with the intent of going up that mountain the next day to find answers.

His sleep, as always, was riddled with warped memories of a funeral pier, men in all black with glowing eyes staring him down, only this time it ended differently.

All his dreams were different, but they all had the same outcome. San, on his knees, staring at a raven in a tree in the distance, with the funeral pier lit in the beneath it. He could feel the burn of smoke in his nose before a Legion Soldier would wrap their ice cold hands around his head and snap is neck, killing dream San and waking real San up with sweat dripping down his body.

But tonight, no one killed him.

He was left, staring at the raven as silver tears left its white beady eyes, putting out the fire and revealing a still body wrapped in white fabric lying on unburnt logs.

And what woke him up tonight was the blood curdling scream of a man.

San shot up, dryer than most of his nights as he stared at the blank wall in front of him. His throat hurt suspiciously, making him think the scream he heard was his own.

Rubbing his hand over the front of his neck uncomfortable, San stood up and started to dress himself.

It was still night time, perhaps in the really early hours of the morning, but San was determined, and he knew he wouldn't be able to sleep again.

After slipping into some sweatpants and an oversized hoodie, San left quietly so as not to disturb his mother or caretaker.

The air was freezing but San felt unfazed as he walked out the gates and into the forest, following the newer gravel road built to the mountain.

San all his life had been very suspicious of White Mountain. The older generations held a foul opinion of the place, but would never explain why. No matter how many times San asked about that mountain, all his teachers and family friends would turn their head away and tell him to forget about it.

San knew something had to have happened on that mountain. There was a desolate abandoned village at the top, a massive man made crater at the bottom, and they only built this new road after the last, supposedly tyrannous king had died.

Another thing no one told him. Why the king was bad. What did he do? And of course San knew of the Legion soldiers. He'd seen them in the distance and in his dreams, but of course he had no idea who they were, what they were, he knew nothing!

San felt stupid as he walked stubbornly up the side of the mountain, kicking gravel frustratedly. Why did people keep things from him. What did they have to lose to spill the smallest bit of information.

It was like the past wasn't allowed to be spoken of, and it infuriated San since his whole life he's been nothing but traumatised by a past he knew nothing of.

As San reached the plateau, he thought maybe one day he should pay Yunho a visit and ask him some questions.

Yunho seemed like someone he could trust, and moreover someone who would actually answer his questions.

San stared at the small white field in front of him. The sun was just rising above the mountain peak, sprinkling light onto the hundreds of white flowers that grew.

San carefully stepped through the flowers. He felt confused as to why there were so many flowers here, and how they even came to grow in a place like this.

When San came to the tree line, he spotted something hidden in the flowers.

It looked like a grave.
