Jongho hardly listened to anyone these days.
After spending his whole life kissing the feet of Kings, his freedom brought nothing but stubbornness and unrelenting decisions.
He was a force to be reckoned with once he decided something. God forbid should someone try to tell him otherwise, to suggest something else.
Just like the Legion Retirement Scheme, where every legion Soldier retired.
Except Jongho.
Did everyone try to convince Jongho to retire too? To accept the free land all the Legion soldiers were being offered with money to last their lifetimes?
Obviously. But did Jongho accept?
He didn't even consider it. Let alone listen to anyones advice.
He'd made his decision long before retirement was even offered.
He insisted, actually, to keep working for the King, now Jimin.
To everyone's shock and disbelief, Jongho actually argued, with the king. Jimin wanted Jongho to retire, and the older almost yelled at the King no.
Jimin was quite literally forced to keep Jongho employed.
So here he was, still wearing his reformed Legion armour, patrolling the perimeter of the castle grounds at night.
It was an uneasy sight, especially now since the moon was dark and no light befell the ground, leaving his white glowing eyes to be the only part of him visible.
The sight was enough to scare even the wolves away.
It was hardly a normal night either.
Jongho was suspicious of everything, since the moment he woke up.
It started when his left boot felt tighter than his right one, even though they were exactly the same.
Followed by his door making a sound he had never heard before.
He left the palace gates later than usual, even though he swore he was on time the whole day.
The air smelt wrong. The wind was blowing east when it never blew east. His normal route had to be interrupted cause of a fallen tree, and his routine ocd was not having it.
When a single drop of water fell on him, where there was nothing above him and not a single cloud in the sky, Jongho almost called it quits for the night.
Nothing scared him anymore, but this night was too weird and too suspicious to be fucking with it.
Just as Jongho was about to turn tail and go back home, he heard footsteps, in the distance at first, but approaching fast and hard, snapping every stick in its path and barrelling towards him.
Jongho could only face the runner and hope for the best, but the best was.....
A heavy force smashed into his chest , causing him and the person to crash backwards.
Jongho was on his back, and he could feel spiky sticks stabbing his shoulders. The person on top of him was gasping for breath, and when they pulled away just enough to see nothing but white eyes glowing at them...
They screamed and fell backwards, and they would have kept shuffling away from the older if the sudden appearance of a wolf didn't give the third scare of the night.
Jongho was quick to his feet, standing up and moving so he was between the wolf and that...person.
The wolf had the same idea as the person though, seeing his eyes the poor mutt turned tail and bolted in the opposite direction.
