As I watched through the tiny crack in the closet, I felt panic rising up in me. If he was going to search the room then he would most definitely check the closet. The wind roared outside, both the man and Brody looked out of the window.
‘’ wow it’s really building up a storm.’’ Brody said.
‘’ that’s no natural wind.’’ The man said grimly. Brody looked towards me for a split second before his eyes went to the man again.
‘’ we don’t have wind-immortals at this campus, especially no one this strong.’’
‘’ that’s my point. The thief broke in and this is her doing.’’ The man said as he turned around and started looking around the room. He was moving strategically from one side of the room and working his way toward the closet.
‘’ if we don’t catch her soon, the angles will interfere with our business. And we all want to avoid that.’’ The man said casually.
‘’ Why all the fuzz about this girl? Obviously she is just disorientated; why not try enrolling her into a school again? Maybe that would sort her out.’’ Brody said with something akin to rising panic in his voice.
‘’ happy thoughts aren’t going to help anyone unfortunately. We must be realistic. Besides her powers are beyond strong, if she started controlling them. The supernatural world would be in a world of pain.’’ The man said. ‘’ she got the powers from the mage we hunted down a couple of years ago. We didn’t see her then because the mage had put some kind of protection bubble around her. In any case, we will find her this time around.’’ The man, who I now was going to name the reaper, said.
As the reaper started looking around the room, Brody placed himself before the closet as casually as he could. And I concentrated on keeping my breathing as noiseless as possible.
‘’ Why are you here then? Why not be out there searching instead of in my room? ’’ Brody tried.
‘’Because your safety is our top priority in this school. It’s also the matter of how vindictive this bitch is. She had the power to slay the two most powerful vampires and get away scotch free. Which means that we will take all precautions’’ The reaper replied.
‘’ I am more than –‘’
‘’shut up, prince!’’ the reaper said. ‘’ I feel something malicious hiding in here.’’ He explained in a very hushed voice.
Brody shut up, so did my breathing. I held my breath as I saw the reaper moving closer to the closet. His hand was about to open the closet when the window facing the school walls exploded in a flurry of glass.
Brody got thrown to the floor by the reaper who landed on top of him, shielding him from the glass. A small shriek managed to find its way out of my mouth, and I quickly closed it again.
I closed my eyes quickly again when a burst of light filled the room as the creature spread his wings.
‘’ Angel.’’ The reaper spat.
‘’ you are quite correct, my name is Gabriel.’’ The voice belonging to an angel replied. And what a voice it was. Musical, yet not feminine at the same time.
‘’ sadly I am here because you cannot protect yourself against the simplest of dangers.’’ The angel spoke.
‘’How dare you even make such out-‘’
‘’ I dare because I know where your chase is heading, and it’s not ending with the girl, it’s ending in a dead-end.’’ The angel said, cutting of the reaper’s ranting.
