Millions of years ago the world was ruled by creatures known as Dinosaurs. They were taken out around two hundred million years ago by a giant meteor and have been extinct ever since. Or at least, that was the case until paleontologist Richard Hammond decided to bring back these giant ancient creatures through the use of DNA engineering and science. What he had created was something breathtaking and incredibly remarkable, but very reckless. He brought back the dinosaurs.
These genetically engineered dinosaurs were located on a remote island far out in the middle of the sea. Dr. Alan Grant was a paleontologist who had been in to see for himself just what Richard Hammond had created. After the expedition, Alan Grant and others agreed to shut down the park.
Years later another scientist would try to pick up Richard Hammond's work and a young paleontologist would have to step up and do what Alan Grant once did, stop the park.
Erin Ross was a young college student at the University of California. She was one of the top students in her class and highly recommended in the paleontology department. She had just turned 28 and was now about to head out on a life changing expedition.
Late one Saturday night she had forgotten to turn in her essay to her professor after her class earlier that morning so she returned to the school. When she reached her classroom she found that her teacher wasn't there so she decided to leave it on his desk. She was walking down the hall leaving when she heard a voice speaking nearby. It was coming from the auditorium. With nothing else better to do she decided to stop in and see what was going on.
She walked in quietly and took a seat near the back, not wanting to disturb whoever was teaching. When she looked up she realized who it was and was rather shocked. It was her teacher. The one she had been looking for.
Dr. Gideon Bradley was the professor and the head of the Paleontology Department at the university of Chicago. He was a tall thin man with short cropped black hair and light brown eyes. He was around his late thirties and alHe stood up on the stage speaking on about something. She wasn't sure at first because she had just walked in, until a student in the audience raised their hand. When Dr. Bradley called on the student they stood.
"Is it true that you are planning on exploring one of those islands that Dr. Richard Hammond had created?"
Dr. Bradley gave a small laugh and shook his head in denial.
"No no no. Those islands are restricted. Besides, we've already seen and heard the stories of what happened to Dr. Alan Grant and his group."
He took a pause, looking down at the podium before him and sighed. He lifted his head and his light blue eyes scanned out across the vast audience before him. The professor suddenly changed courses as he became fully intent and serious with the group.
"I will be honest when I say this. Dinosaurs are creatures from ancient times. Billions of years before our civilization. And just like any other wild animal it is best to leave it be. I bring you all here today to announce something great. A new discovery that may just advance our understanding of these creatures."
After the lecture, once everyone had mainly cleared the auditorium, Erin caught up to Dr. Gideon Bradley as he gathered his things on the stage.
"Erin, What are you doing here?" He asked surprised, seeing her as she walked up to him.
"I forgot to turn in my essay and left it on your desk when I noticed you weren't in there."
He gave a nod and told her he would check it out later. He began to walk off stage when she dashed after him.
"Uh sir? I was wondering what the discovery was that you mentioned about in your lecture?"
Dr. Gideon Bradley looked around anxiously before nodding towards the exit.
"Let's discuss this elsewhere."
The two walked in silence down the hall until they reached the lab. It was a wide room with shelves of equipment and evidence scattered all over the counter tops. In the center was a wide island table which had a covered up item on it. Dr. Bradley closed and locked the door behind them as they entered and walked over the the center table.
"What is it?" Erin asked curiously, pointing to the covered item before her.
"This," said Dr. Bradley. "Is my newest discovery."
He shinned a bright light on the subject before gently removing the sheet. Erin gasped in awe at what was revealed before her. It was some kind of unusual skull of a dinosaur fossil. She had never seen anything like it before.
It was a huge skull shaped similar to that of a t-rex but much larger and narrow. It had wider eye sockets and a larger, wide snout. There was a small sharp horn at the tip of the snout with three others. Each horn decreased in size one after another from the tip of the snout.
Dr.Bradley stepped over to a computer monitor nearby.
"And this is what the diagnostics have dug up." He said, pointing to the screen.
Dr. Bradley stepped aside as Erin wandered over to look at the screen. She watched as a simulation ran on the screen showing the scanned picture of the skull as it transformed into a full bodied dinosaur. On both sides of the screen were various readings. Some were height and weight predictions while others read genetic sequencing of the DNA and blood work. It even predicted how old the fossil was.
"This is a new dinosaur?" Laughed Erin in awe. "It's not in our database which means-"
Erin turned around and looked from the screen over to the giant fossil on the table.
"My god..." She uttered. "Where did you find it?"
Dr. Bradley raised a finger and opened his mouth but shut it again as he furrowed his brow.
"I can't say."
Erin looked at him. He always told her everything. What was he hiding from her and why?
