Miki ' S POV:

Hey my name is Keke. My story doesn't include tragedies and it isn't sad, I'm just a normal teenager that goes to a normal school; well... maybe not so normal. I attend Riverside Academy. This is my life at a Christian school. Four months ago I thought I was going to Hilton High School with all my friends and my crush Ty (but that's a whole other story for another time),but my parents had other plans. They informed me 2 days before school started that I wasn't going to Layton High I was going to my sister's school Riverside Academy; as you could imagine I was pretty upset. Life as I knew it was ruined; no friends, no hot guys, and a brand new school. And some more good news we have to wear uniforms! Ughhhh!

Two weeks passed and before I knew it was the first day of school. My dad pulled up to the school only it wasn't a school it was a church, yup, this was a completely new territory. Oh I almost forgot my dad is the math teacher and the sports coach. Awesome right (total sarcasm). As soon as I opened the door to the building butterflies crept into my stomach.

As I walked through the long corridor I thought of 3 things make new friends, and get a good education just kidding about the last part. I walked into a big classroom with about 35 kids in it. I sat in the corner next to a girl I met at summer camp, Natalie. At least I had 1 friend. Just as I thought everything was going to be fine, this girl with brown hair and a perfect caramel complexion sat next to Natalie and from the looks of things they were really good friends. From their conversation I picked up that her name was Grace.

As if having perfect timing and coordination a teacher came up to the front of the classroom. She said, "Hello my name is Ms.Courtney I will be your history teacher this year. Natalie will be coming around to hand out your class expectations and my grading policy." And without one word Natalie got up took the handouts from Ms.Courtney's hands and started passing them out. As I took a glance across the room filled with teachers and students something caught my eye these 2 students, from what I could tell they were about 3 years younger than me, but since I was desperate for companionship, and plus they looked really nice. I went over to sit with them. I said, "Hi my name's Keke." The girl with the short blond hair answered, " Hi my name is Lucy, I'm in 6th grade I've been in this school before in kindergarten so you could say that I'm not exactly new." The other girl said, " My name is Mona and I've been here for 8 years. What grade are you in?" I replied, "Ninth grade."

The back to school orientation flew by and so did the classes. Before I knew it was time to go home. Here's a quick flashback of what happened during the school day. I met this cool new guy named Max and we had the rest of the day in a library. A library!!! Since I love love love books it wasn't bad for the first day of school. When my mom picked me and my sister up from school she asked what most parents ask their child or children (in this case) on the 1st day of school, "How was your first day of school?" Of course I dismissed the question like most teens with their parents do by replying, "It was good." But my sister Myriah responded by telling her whole life story. Little sisters, you gotta love 'em.

What happened next completely caught me off guard. When we arrived home and my mom got to making dinner my dad arrived. When he came into the kitchen he asked, "Why didn't you hang out with kids your age, Keke. Natalie, Grace, Jiana and Siriana want to get to know you but instead you hung out with 6th graders. What's that about? At that point I was frustrated, did he know how hard it was making friends on the 1st day, it takes time. But I didn't want to say that out loud because it would sound rude, instead I answered, "I'm just trying to get to know every one from every group in the school, get acquainted with all of them." It wasn't a lie.

On Monday I would try to do what my dear old dad suggested and hang out with the kids my age, this is going to be great. Just great.
