Chapter 10

I packed the last of my things as I had a podcast playing in the background. Then it hit me; We we're taking ANOTHER trip to Texas. Every single last one of us. I text Farkle and Lucas to come over immediately.
"BAY WINDOW RIGHT NOW!!" I shout as I walk out into the living room. I sit on the living room window as Riley quickly walks and jumps next to me. Maya slowly walks right behind her and sits to my other side. "What's up, Spence?" Maya asks.
"I don't want any funny business this trip to Texas." I say staring them both down. "Aw, Spence, we're older now..More Mature..What could possibly go wrong?" Riley asks making me raise just an eyebrow at the shit show that happened all those years ago. "No funny business, got it." She takes back and looks away from my mom stare. The door opens as the boys let themselves in with a smile before seeing my stressed out mom stare. "Boys.." I say welcoming them. "You two can go." I tell Riley and Maya before they run off. I turn back to the boys, smiles turned into fear.
"You think she'd notice if we left?" Zay asks Farkle and Lucas. "Bay window. Now." I say patting the seats beside me.
"Yes ma'am." They said in sync and speed to sit beside me.
"What's troubling you, madam?" Zay asks obviously tense and scared to speak. I squint my eyes and raise an eyebrow in confusion. "Look, Spence has become Texas Mom Spencer and IM SCARED SHITLESS, ALRIGHT?"
I let out a sigh and relax a bit. "I just don't want anything to go wrong in Texas."
"Spencer, we're older now, more mature.. Do you really think anything could happen the second try?" Lucas asks making me just squint at him, "I thought nothing would happen the first try but obviously THINGS CAN HAPPEN."
"Yes ma'am. No funny business." He says shutting up.
"Good. Well I'm going to finish packing before we go.." I say before leaving the boys at the window.
I here a quiet "Coo-Coo" noise from Zay once I left the room. "Heard that." I shout from my room.

I find my seat between Farkle and Lucas on the train and I immediately feel defeated. "No funny business, I said, and THIS is what you pull?" I ask the universe looking up to the sky. "I think we can handle a train ride to Texas." Lucas says with a smile. I throw my carry on above us before taking my seat between the two. "Hi." Farkle says to me making me give a small smile. "Hey."
"Hey." Lucas says making me turn to him now. "Hi." I say with the same smile. Both of them look back away from me, awkwardly. "Oh boy."

I fell asleep slowly to the sound of my music through my earbuds. My phone buffers for a moment as I'm half asleep.
"I just don't think that now is the time to pry Spencer into a relationship." I hear Farkle say as I keep my eyes closed. "I never said that, I just wanted to know where you stood with your feelings towards her."
They were talking about me. I felt so stressed and hoped nothing more would come of the conversation. "I haven't given it thought. I don't know if you remember but Spence was just assaulted by one of the closest people she had in Hollywood. Now isn't the best time to talk about where we all stand romantically."
Farkle was right, I really did not feel like I was in the place for a relationship at the moment. It was sweet that he was looking out for me. Lucas seems to just feel like he's missed an opportunity. My music starts to play again and I'm slowly falling asleep.

We walk into Pappy Joes house once again and the smell of Texas and fresh air just brought a smile to my face. "It is good to be back." I say as Maya and Riley stand to my sides. "I did miss Huckleberry's way of living." Maya chuckles.
"Pappy Joe, is Buttercup doing okay to ride?" I ask. It's been so long since I've been back. "As healthy as a horse." He smiles from the kitchen. "I'm gonna go take a ride." I say grabbing my hat from my things. "I'll come with." Lucas shrugs as we walk out and head to the barn.

Another short one but I promise we're getting somewhere.
