"A dance?"
...
"Yeah, why not? I and A drink to cleanse things down."
Slowly, the bottles start to drain. The empty glasses begin to litter the table, as Wonwoo feels a certain drowsiness starting to succumb him. They were seated together in a small convenient store, catching their breaths and living over the aftermath adrenaline.
But it wasn't before the group's seam began to open cracks, as Mingyu was the one to stand up first. "I need to go now."
"... Leaving so soon?" Mingyu hears his friend call out to him again, while the other male remains silent at the side.
Wonwoo's silence wasn't confusing however, still being the person that understands Mingyu the most. He could see the sluggish sway in his steps, the purple crescents that were imprinted under his eyes.
"How about one dance before you go?" Stopping his friend in his tracks, Wonwoo smiles at him for the first time that night. "Like how we used to."
Mingyu couldn't stop watching him from across the room. It's obvious, unstoppable, and now that Mingyu knows, it's scary, and a bit dizzying.
But once again as he sees the two sitting together, he felt as if his conscience had the better say in this situation-- and that was to let go before he can't go back.
"Sorry, I have classes tomorrow." He waves, before turning towards the door.
The quiet receding background noise of the city greeted him again, Mingyu slinging the backpack over his shoulders as he began to make his way back, and away from his friends.
But what he didn't know was that he and Wonwoo crossed thoughts for just a moment, both of them in an instant of their mind questioning the exact same thing.
How did love, become "love"?
/
Wonwoo didn't know how to feel with the absence of his friend. But yet, it mayhaps wasn't the right thing to worry about at that moment.
His gaze returns to the girl, the same gaping tenderness returning as he stares at her. He wants so badly to say it, the courage to conjure up words he couldn't find in previous nights.
He could just feel it, and how close he was to his real feelings.
"Hey, Woo."
Wonwoo's mind was slowed down by the alcohol, but the words got through to him. In a way, he doesn't want to hope. He's scared to do so, and if there's one thing he didn't believe in, it was luck. Causes and effects don't always follow you right after, and not everything goes the way you want them to; just because you wished for it.
