Things were getting interesting. I unintentionally made some new friends only because I wanted to figure out what the deal was with Rain. Pansy, Terry, Daphne, and I have been staying up late trying to get homework done because we'd accidentally waste the whole day trying to figure out the mystery that is Rain Fox.
You could say I've become obsessed with her. Obsessed with solving something I've never seen before. But it's also a distraction. A distraction from what's been going on with my life and my dad and everything. But mostly, it was distracting me from Draco's problem. I had no idea he was going to tell me something like that. Something that intense and he told it to me? I couldn't understand it but at the same time... I felt bad for Draco Malfoy.
Let me tell you what happened.
I did what Draco told me to do, I went to the prefects bathroom. I went in kind of early so that I would be the first person in the room and not him. I like being places earlier than everyone else. Plus, I needed time to think.
I thought I wouldn't see Draco for a while because I literally went in, like, two hours early. Apparently, someone else wanted to clear their head before our meeting, too.
"You're here early," I said when he walked in.
"And you're here even early," he stated as he walked over to my sitting spot. I started to get up but he put up his hand and motioned me to stop. He joined me on the cold tile floor and banged his head against the back wall.
"What's that all about?" I couldn't seem to get the distastefulness out of my mouth. Draco noticed, too, and simply glared at me.
"Don't make me regret this," he sneered. I sighed and shrugged. What was I gonna do now? I was already here so I might as well listen.
"Sorry, I'm here to listen." Something I noticed while we sat on the floor in silence for way too long in my opinion is Draco seemed... vulnerable tonight. I know, strange isn't it? But I'm telling you! That's what I observed and I happen to be very observant.
"Okay, fine." I thought he was going to turn and look at me. Which, he didn't. But I guess he didn't want to make eye contact. Which, is fair.
Here's a little rule about eye contact, at least with Slytherin's. You make eye contact with someone it's almost like a challenge. First person to look away is deemed vulnerable (which Draco has already been giving off that vibe tonight) and the other person gains more power. Blinking doesn't matter, don't mistake it for a staring contest. I mean it kind of is but... The Slytherin version. And we can blink.
Draco has been deemed male champion at this and I've been deemed female. Neither has lost to the other and the only thing that gets us to look away is if a friend comes and stands in front of us to get us out of the "trance." Or, I guess, one of Draco's friends. If you don't remember, I haven't had friends for years.
"The only way I'm going to tell you this is if we make an unbreakable vow," he stated clearly.
"Okay, what?" I shook my head and looked at him. He still wasn't looking at me. Was he scared he'd lose tonight if he does end up making eye contact? "First of all, that's intense and crazy even for you! Second of all, neither of us know how to even do one so I don't think it's possible."
"I can do it."
"No, you can't!" I laughed with disbelief. Is he serious right now?
"I can, I've done it before for people. Family and family friends." He shrugged and finally looked at me. But it wasn't a challenge and I think we both knew that. We shared a silent understanding. It didn't matter who looked away first, we'd still keep our titles.
"Okay but this is still crazy because you know what happens when someone breaks an unbreakable vow."
"Yeah, they die," he answered.
"And you want to do one? You really are crazy!" I stood up and he followed suit.
"Of course I want to do one, you're not going to tell anyone what I tell you tonight and I won't tell anyone what you tell me tonight. Tonight will basically have never happened. Deal?" He asked. I looked at him and tried to search his eyes for a trick. I didn't see any.
Was this insane? Actually thinking about this? Then again, I really can't look weak. So, shaking my head to try and rid the angel that's screaming at me "NO," I stared Draco right in the eyes and said:
"Deal."
---
I don't know how he did that. Honestly, it was weird. He took my arm, I took his, he made this bound silver thingy wrap around our arms. Then, he said things like "we no tell each other secrets blah blah blah." I mean obviously, it wasn't that but I'm close enough.
Afterward, it was strange. The silvery wrap came undone, I looked at Draco, and NOTHING HAPPENED! I felt no change in the air or myself and it didn't look like Draco felt different either!
"Am I supposed to feel something?" I asked him.
"Nope!" He rubs his hands together, cracks his neck, and sits at the edge of the tub. Bold move thinking I wouldn't push him in. I smirked to myself and sat next to him.
"That was..." I pretended to think for a moment. "Not impressive at all!" I smiled innocently and crossed my legs and put my hands on my knee.
"Oh!" He laughed slightly. "Did you think I was trying to impress you?"
"Seemed a little bit like it," I nodded my head and laughed with him.
"Well, you can hope, Isabelle storms, that that's what I meant." He winked and I let my smile grow just a touch.
"Of course! Because every girl wants Draco Malfoy. We can talk all night about who fancies who but, please, let's share secrets."
