Awaken the Soldier

A red light started flashing in the corner of the room and I heard footsteps running down the corridor outside.

"Enough of this bullshit," I hissed.

I ripped my wrists out the cuffs and rushed to the door kicking it open.

I looked down the left of the hall watching half the building run down the stairs at the end of the hall. I then turned to my right and saw an elevator door open and saw Steve climb through it and he rushed through a door marked roof access.

I raised my eyebrow and followed him, something seemed odd if the whole building was evacuating and he was heading to the roof.

As I climbed the roof access stairs I heard a loud bang above and I picked up speed running up the stairs. I ran onto the roof and saw Steve next to a chopper which was crushed to bits on the roof and he was being strangled through the window by a metal arm.

Bucky? What is he doing?

I then felt my heart drop as the chopper slowly slipped off the roof and fell with Steve.

"Bucky!" I screamed feeling a giant shock pulse through my face.

I ran to the edge and looked down at the river that was going wild from the impact. I didn't give a second thought as I dived off the roof.

I felt the water crash into me as I dived under the water. I saw the chopper wreckage laying at the bottom of the river and I swam down to it.

For the first time in my life I was grateful that HYDRA made me live half my life in a tank. I felt almost like fate that my ability to breath underwater was ready to save Bucky in this moment.
I looked through the windshield and saw he was passed out inside. I worked against the pressure of the underwater atmosphere and smashed through the window and pulled him out.
Steve appeared next to me and took Bucky's other arm and we pulled him to the surface.

Steve gasped in the air as we came above surface and we dragged Bucky onto dry land and I rested my ear near his mouth and heard his faint breath "Thank goodness," I murmured resting my forehead on his.

I looked up Steve who was looking down at me confused and I slowly picked Bucky up.

"Let me take him you're still bleeding out," Steve said hoisting Bucky over his shoulder.

"I'll be fine it'll heal soon," I murmured tearing the edge of my shirt and wrapping it over the claw marks.

We started walking away keeping wary of anyone who might spot us.

"So you're like him then?" Steve asked keeping his gaze ahead.

"In someways I suppose, we are both super soldiers, I was grown not born he was taken and wiped and reprogrammed, me they punished me for feeling and I have some black spots of human knowledge that aren't deemed essential for a warrior,"

Steve paused and looked back at me "So how did he suddenly go back to his old ways back there?"

I furrowed my brow confused "Back in HYDRA they would wipe him of everything that made him Bucky Barnes, and say the ten words that activated the Winter Soldier, but it's not exactly common knowledge those words,"

"Well someone knows them,"

"Is that really necessary?" I exclaimed as I watched Sam clamp Bucky's metal arm in the vice.

"Well we don't want to risk him going full psycho on us again," Sam murmured.

I felt a brief shock to my face.
