graycen stayed with remington even when the nurses came up. they got her vitals, and also brought her breakfast since she didn't eat this morning. while she sat there with remington, she hoped that something would happen.

silence was between them, like there always was. it's only been silence for two months now. the worst two months that graycen has experienced. within these two months, graycen found out that she would soon be moving to the new hospital that was closer to town. her current state was worsening because of the time that she hasn't talked to remington, and as well as him not being awake to talk to her.

remington was the one thing that kept graycen going, but her father just thinks that he made everything worse for her.

"you know," remington broke the silence between them, "when i get out of here; in some way... i want to start a life. find someone to have a family with, and buy a house together. i want to just forget about everything that i went through, and just start fresh." remington explained, running his hands through graycen's hair.

"start a family? with who?" graycen asked out of curiosity.

"well... she isn't that tall. can fight nurses left and right. has beautiful grey eyes, long black hair, and could probably kick my ass if i reminded her of how short she is." remington joked.

"oh ha ha, she sounds like a lot to handle." graycen replied.

     "that's probably because she is."

graycen playfully pinched remington's side, causing him to put his other hand on the spot, to stop the pain. "see, and with this you can take down nurses left and right." remington laughed.

"oh so that girl is me?" graycen asked, raising her eyebrows to get a reaction out of remington.

"yes, yes it is graycen marie." remington chuckled.

graycen looked to remington's lifeless expression. she just wanted to see his dark, brown eyes again. she wanted to hear his laugh again. she wanted to trace his tattoos again, while he fell asleep in the middle of humming a tune; trying to get graycen to sleep.

a knock at the door broke graycen from looking at remington, a life savor you could say. "come in." graycen said from bedside.

walking in, a familiar face came into the room. "hey maddox." graycen smiled.

after everything went down with the coma, maddox and graycen became close, trying to find ways to get remington to wake up. they would take turns at night just so graycen got sleep. before all of this, graycen never got any sleep.

"hey, anything today?" maddox asked, pulling up a chair from the corner.

"no, it's still quiet and dead. not even a hand twitch like last time." graycen answered, "i'm starting to think that i'm just seeing things; like i'm seeing his chest lower and rise, but like it's all just a figure of my imagination."

"that's something pretty big to say. that isn't like you." maddox replied.

"well i just need to get it out, i can't just pretend he's going to wake up because he might not. there are multiple times where his monitor goes off and they have to restart his heart."

     "just wait and see gray-"

"that's what i've been doing! all i've been doing is waiting, maddox! i'm running out of time!"
