"It rained after."
The Magistrate turned to look at a withered Osanna who had slumped to the floor of the bright room.
"You used to like the rain, Osa."
"Not since then I haven't."
"And so he told you the story before it happened didn't he? That story wasn't just your favorite, it was his too." The Magistrate paused, eyes gliding to a hunched over Osanna.
"It was his favorite because you enjoyed it so much. You were different then, and he thought you would learn from it."
She looked up, the tears had finally broken free and the snot from her nose was contained no longer.
"I know."
