Mackenzie Diamond
I am such a horrible person. I missed it.
I missed my own mother's death anniversary. I was supposed to go with my father to her grave and just visit her. Maybe bring roses or tulips, which were her favorite flowers.
I still can't believe it. I had even begged the doctors if they could just let me out for a few hours, and I told them I'd be back. Besides, I'd already been here for two days, and I felt fine. But that was "against policy" apparently.
I beat myself up for a few more minutes before I saw a silhouette in the doorway to my room. The figure moved quickly. I thought it was a nurse. Turns out, I was wrong.
I didn't know who it was but this was definitely weird. The person must've thought that I was asleep, because they just stood over my hunched, seemingly sleeping body. I kept my eyes shut until I was certain that they were gone.
So, I slowly opened my eyes to find another pair of haunting dark green eyes staring directly at me. It scared me shitless! I was just about to scream, but he swiftly moved a hand to cover my mouth.
I figured out that the person was indeed a man, from the size of his hands and by the deepness that filled his voice when he whispered to me.
"Quiet, deary. You don't want anything to happen to that pretty little face of yours, now would you?" His hands felt suffocating, and the roughness of them made my lips feel uncomfortable.
I tried to keep still, afraid of what might happen to me if I got the man angry.
Three more figures entered the room, and one of them quietly closed the door, locking it.
Then one of them switched the lights on. The light was very bright, making it hard for me to keep my eyes open for very long. Once I got accustomed to the light, I realized that the man was no longer holding his hand to my mouth, but had made his way across the room to join the other strangers.
I peered to the four men standing in my hospital room. They were all dressed in black with ski masks on and each held a different size bag.
One of them then realized I was looking at them and shot me a smirk that could be translated to, "Time to have some fun with this one." He was probably the tallest of all of them.
He stopped talking and made his way over to my bed. He leaned over and I could see his eyes. They were a light blue, maybe a baby blue color. As if I had read his mind, he said to me, "Ready to have some fun darling?"
I winced at the crudeness of his voice. It sounded like he was sick, and to confirm my suspicions he started to have a coughing fit. He managed to nicely cover his cough though.
Well, at least he has manners. I thought to myself.
"W-what are y-you talking ab-about?" I stammered out quietly, being completely aware of the fact that my heart was about to beat its way out of my chest.
Another one of the men called out from behind him, "Make sure it's her. We can't fuck up."
"Of course, master." He emphasized the last word and laced it with sarcasm. He looked over my face for a few moments, before another person came up to me. He pushed Mr.Baby Blue and searched my face.
"Hey, Mack." A somewhat familiar voice said, while pulling off the mask. It was Jack, Lucy's brother! The last time I saw him was at my mother's funeral two years ago.
"Jack?! Wha–" I tried to ask what was happening, but it was like he had already anticipated it.
"No time to explain. Can you walk?" He interrupted me, and started rummaging through the bag he held on his shoulder. He then held out black jeans that looked about my size, a black shirt, and a black hoodie.
