Chapter 4: Mackenzie Diamond
I awoke in a dazed state. I opened my eyes, taking in my surroundings. The room was way too bright. Maybe because it was completely white. Well, at least the ceiling and walls were. My mind starts to stir and I manage to sit up.
Oh, that’s right. I’m still at the hospital. Everything is usually white. I mention in my head to myself.
I took a moment to collect my thoughts and look around the room before I got out of bed. I start to look around the room, only to realize that this place is definitely not the hospital.
I got a panicky feeling, and closed my eyes in an attempt to calm myself. It is then that I recalled the events of last night, or rather earlier today, depending on how much time had passed since I fainted.
Groggily, I walked towards the door, not sure of how to approach the situation ahead of me. Both the obstacle of walking without stumbling and the inevitable confrontation of the men who essentially kidnapped me straight from the hospital.
But of course, they said it was under my father’s orders and Jack is with them, so I guess they couldn’t be lying. I recounted the thoughts I had while in the van they had brought me to this place in.
Still unsure of what to do, much less what to think, I opened the door to find myself in a much different environment.
Although it’s just the next room, the atmosphere is changed completely. The white room gave off a sort of strict, no-nonsense type vibe; while this room was the utter opposite.
Filled with colors ranging from the far end of the color spectrum to the other, I couldn't help but stare dumbly ahead at the vibrant wall. After finally prying my eyes from the magnificent piece of art in front of me, I circled the room.
It was practically empty. The only pieces of furniture was a comfy looking couch and and small table with a brightly colored lamp on top.
Being so absorbed in taking in my surroundings, I didn't notice the two tall figures that walked in.
"This room is still somewhat under construction." A masculine voice rang out. As I moved around, I came face to face with Derek. He stared at me for a few moments, and I watched his expression change from bliss to.. worry?
"Are you okay? How are you feeling? Do you need anything?" He surprised me with the amount of concern his voice held. I felt my face heat up a bit, so I took a step back and turned to face the wall again. Why does he care? Is there something I'm missing?
