That Day Pt. 1

7:39 a.m.
Shikamaru slept peacefully as he dreamt about looking over the village 20 years later watching a new Hokage. " Ooh blonde hair? Did that idiot really do it. Eh I'm not that surprised. As- " "Shikamaru wake up! " A whisper-ous voice said in his ear. " H-huh? " Shikamaru said as he sat up " Lady Tsunade has called you in. Sorry but your vacation was cut short it's really urgent. " Shikaku said " D-dad? But why me why not Kiba or Naruto if it was that urgent? " Shikamaru asked laying back down " Well maybe that Naruto kid was called since I saw him heading down that way with that pink haired girl. "
Shikaku said grabbing Shikamaru's clothes " Oh great! What am I Sasuke's replacement for Naruto's team? "
Shikamaru said getting up and taking his shirt off " I heard that fight him and Sasuke had almost killed him " Shikaku said walking out " Yeah but Naruto tried his best. Never thought he could face Sasuke head on like that. " Shikamaru said putting on his clothes. Shikamaru left his house and walked to the Hokage's office. Shikamaru knocked on the door hearing Naruto and Tsunade arguing " Naruto shut up! And just go with it! "
Lady Tsunade shouted. Shikamaru knocked on the door harder ' That idiot is arguing with the Hokage.. he sure has balls ' Shikamaru thought " Come in! "
Lady Tsunade yelled. Shikamaru walked in seeing Naruto on the ground passed out.
" Ahh, Shikamaru you're here! Sorry to cut your vacation short. This mission is really odd and you may be uncomfortable, but this will help stop future attacks on the hidden leaf village.
A terrorist group kinda like the Akatsuki is threatening to attack our village if we don't deliver a sacred scroll, or forbidden jutsu, like Naruto's Kage Bunshin, in their hands. So this is the plan, unfortunately Sasuke Uchiha is no longer with us and you were second on our qualified list for this role. You and Naruto are suppose be close as in couple wise, you two are the dynamic duo in this mission. Sakura will be the one delivering, you guys are to act like a gay couple hiding away from the world near their base. Since they're homophobic you guys will get in easily, Naruto using your Kage Bunshin you'll have a easy way out, Shikamaru using your Kage no Mahi you'll have a easy way it depending on where y'all will be held. If trouble Naruto will help you out. This is the day Sakura will deliver. And the scroll will be exact to the scroll we're giving except it's contents are out of order. Are you guys ready? This is a S ranked mission! " Tsunade said " Well why didn't you say that the first time! Alright Shikamaru! I shall be a great boyfriend! "
Naruto shouted " N-Naruto! Don't say it so loud! " Shikamaru loudly whispered as blush spread across his face " YOU IDIOT! IT'S NOT FOR REAL! " Sakura yelled as she punched Naruto " S-Sakura-Chan! I was just joking " Naruto said as he stood up rubbing his head " You and Shikamaru should be getting used to each other's company as this mission will be long, estimated for about a week " Tsunade said as she got and walked to the door ' A week really? Why am I excited? WAIT! HUH?! N- no.. not like that Shikamaru. Maybe it's because I'll be called a potential hero.. that'll be a drag! ' Shikamaru thought as they walked out of the door " Ahh I need a drink! " Lady Tsunade shouted " Lady Tsunade! But- "
Shizune said " NOW SHIZUNE! " Tsunade shouted as loud crashing of stuff breaking could be heard from the office.

Naruto asked as he blushed sounding flustered " Y-Yeah sure what time? "
Shikamaru asked pinkish-red fading on Shikamaru's ear " 6 o'clock? Maybe? "
Naruto said as his voice got softer " yeah sure!.. " Shikamaru said as his face felt warmer " A-Alright cya! " Naruto yelled as he ran away as fast as he could. ' That's 2 hours from now.. Choji' on a mission and I don't want to hang with Ino.. god no! I guess I'll see if Asuma-Sensei wants to play Shogi.. ' Shikamaru thought blush still visible on his face and ears.

Shikamaru knocked on Kurenai-Sensei's apartment door since he saw Asuma-Sensei wasn't home. Locks could be heard opening, the door opened and Kurenai-Sensei peeked her head through the door " Oh! Shikamaru-Kun! What brings you here? " Kurenai sensei said as she walked out into her apartment building hallway. " Well I was wondering where Asuma-Sensei was? I want to see if he wants to play a quick round of Shogi since..well.. I um well have a um d-date. And I want to kill time.. do you know where he is? " Shikamaru said as he blushed ' w-why didn't I even include that part?! ' Shikamaru thought as Kurenai looked shocked and happy " OOOH!! Who is the lucky girl?! Is it Ino?! Nahh Ino is into the Uchiha.. oh! OH! I know!! It's Hinata isn't it?! Wait but she likes the 4th Hokage's so- I mean that blonde kid.. "
Kurenai said as she winked at Shikamaru causing him to brush harder " I-It's Naruto! B-but it's for a mission!! But I feel nervous and I don't know why! I've known him since we were toddlers!! " Shikamaru said as he sound panicked. Kurenai didn't speak but then gave Shikamaru a warm smile before her attention flew to behind Shikamaru. Shikamaru turned in curiosity, " Oh Asuma! Shikamaru was just looking for you! He wants to play Shogi. And he may have something to tell you.. " Kurenai said as she winked again and made it sound mysterious " K byeee! You two boys have fun!! " Kurenai yelled from inside her house ' Damnit Kurenai-Sensei!
I mean I wouldn't mind telling Asuma-Sensei.. ' Shikamaru thought as Asuma walked up to him. " You wanted to play Shogi right? " Asuma said smiling " oh and I want to here about this thing yoy may have to tell me let's go! " Asuma said as him and Shikamaru walked to where they play Shogi at, the walk was silent but Shikamaru enjoyed Asuma's presence ' What a drag!- ' Shikamaru thought before the trees cleared up to a house with dirt all around it " Well we're here! "
Asuma said with excitement " I know Im gonna beat you! Best of three? " Asuma asked as they walked to house and sat down. " W-Well you see.. can we do best of two and keep it short.. cause I have a um- date in an hour.. " Shikamaru said as his ears turned red and his face looked flustered " Oh.. is that what you had to tell me? " Asuma asked as he set up the Shogi board " Well it's about 1/3 of what I have to t-tell you.. " Shikamaru said with his head facing down ' Why do I have to tell you again? Oh right Kurenai-Sensei!
Why would you do that?! To me?! '
Shikamaru thought. " Oh I'm guessing the next part is the kinda lucky girl you be seeing in a hour. My guess is Temari. Is she still in the village? " Asuma said as he made his first move " N-No she left after Naruto and Gaara's fight.. but why are you doing the knight first? " Shikamaru asked in confusion. " Oh? Well the knight always protects the king right? " ( I don't shi about chess.. ) Asuma said as he raised an eyebrow " Soo who's the date? "
Asuma asked as Shikamaru's face turned a vibrant red with a pinkish color fading from the center " She must leave you flattered huh? Is she a village gir- " Asuma said before being cut off " I-IT'S NARUTO!" Shikamaru said as he laid down covering his face ' He chose the Queen? Damn I about lost! ' Asuma said as he took his knight of the board. Shikamaru laid on the ground for a solid 30 seconds before lifting his head to Asuma smiling " That was a smart move.."
Asuma said ' So he's not gonna talk about what I just said? ' " I know what you're thinking why I'm not saying anything.. to be honest I'm not surprised.. so what's the last thing you gotta tell me? " Asuma asked as he moved another Shogi piece " Well um it's for a mission.. but I feel nervous and happy for some reason.. "
Shikamaru said as me moved another piece. " Do you like him? " Asuma asked thinking about his next move " Why would I like a idiot like him?! Though he has saved all of us many times.. I already get annoyed with his voice!- I don't understand " Shikamaru said as he looked panicked " When he matures it may be better, but have you just felt like this now? " Asuma asked as he made his move " N-No like I said he is an idiot.. I'm more into calm people, like Sasuke but his mood is just awful and annoying... "
Shikamaru said as he moved the knight in front of the king ' the knight protecting the king ' Asuma thought " So now you're bringing in Sasuke? " Asuma said as he got rid of three of his characters and sighed that he lost again " W-WHAT NO!

' Crap! I'm late! ' Shikamaru thought as ran through the village. Shikamaru finally saw the bright orange lanterns that lit the street up as the sun set ' Finally! '
Shikamaru thought as he breathed heavy and lifted up the curtains and went inside.
Shikamaru immediately noticed the orange jacket and orange pants " H-Hey Naruto sorry I'm late.. " Shikamaru thought as he blushed when he saw Naruto had flavors " Oh Naruto this is your date? " Teuchi asked as he watched Shikamaru sit down " I-It's for a mission 'ttebayo! " Naruto yelled as visable blush could be seen. Naruto gave Shikamaru the flowers and they ate in silence.

Naruto and Shikamaru walked back to Naruto's house in silence. Naruto and Shikamaru blushed as Kiba and Hinata caught them walking together blushing.
They reached Naruto's house. They went inside as Shikamaru sat on Naruto's bed.
Naruto took off his Orange shirt as Shikamaru blushed expecting to see Naruto's stomach. " H-Hey wanna take a shower you were sweating? " Naruto said as he faced towards his kitchen " Y-Yeah I will right now! " Shikamaru said as he ran to Naruto's bathroom and slammed the door. Shikamaru sat on the toilet as the water ran with his shirt off ' I-I don't know what's happening to me... ' Shikamaru thought as he took his pants off and went in the shower. " AHH! " Shikamaru screamed as he jumped out ' Why is the shower so hot?! It's on cold?! Do I do reversed phycology here?! ' Shikamaru thought as he turned the handle all the way to Hot. Shikamaru stepped in back first to only scream louder and jump out the tub. Shikamaru turned off the shower as he rubbed his back. Shikamaru heard knocks on the bathroom door before a voice asked if he was ok " Y-yeah the showers kinda hot.. " Shikamaru said as he got up from the floor still rubbing his back. " Oh! The maintenance man was supposed to come last week.. you know how to do Kage Bunshin? " The voice asked " N-No! I only know how to do one.." Shikamaru said as walked towards the shower handle " Hold on! I can help you! " Naruto walked in the bathroom seeing Shikamaru bent over naked staring at him " I-I um! " Naruto panick-ly said as he covered his eyes. " I'll close my eyes but I'll do it for you. " Shikamaru turned mad red, almost passing out from the heat " O-Ok.. " Shikamaru said as he covered his private area as Naruto did his famous jutsu. Shikamaru felt liquid dripping from his nose as it ran over his lips. Shikamaru touched the liquid and saw it was blood ' I'M HAVING A NOSE BLEED?! OVER THIS IDIOT?! I'D RATHER NOSE BLEED OVER ASUMA-SENSEI THAT HIM?! ' Shikamaru thought as he watched Naruto go to shower handle and move the handle from hot to cold really fast ' What the fu- ' " Alright Shikamaru I got it going! But you gotta hurry cause this is tiring!! " The shadow clones said as the real Naruto walks out of the bathroom.
