Jealousy

"Is everything alright?" a voice asks.

Startled, Jungkook loosens his grip on your wrist. He looked like he was just snapped out of a trance, rubbing his head as his eyes tried to refocus.

You stare at the woman who had interrupted you; she was short and old, wearing a dress that looked like it was made from plastic. She looked like one of the crazy hippies who'd try to recruit people into cults as Namjoon warned you about.

The more you studied the woman, the guiltier you felt. She looked genuinely concerned, and her smile was kind.

"Yeah, everything's fine," Jungkook says, but the old woman doesn't leave until you give her a certain nod.

When she leaves, you turn towards him angrily.

"What was that earlier?" you press, crossing your arms across your chest.

Jungkook stares at your feet in an ashamed silence, regretting his earlier actions. The silence becomes awkward quickly, and you sigh before taking his hands in yours.

"I'm sorry I lied. It's just, my friend is spending the year traveling. He's only in the city for tonight, and he wanted me to come," you explain, bringing his hands to your cheek as he absentmindedly stroked it.

Jungkook nods, but you can still see how dejected he looked. You felt bad. He probably felt embarrassed with you ditching him so quickly, and on your first date together.

"I promise, our date next Friday will be amazing. You'll forget this ever happened," you tell him, and he nods.

"Are you gonna leave now?" you ask him, wondering why he was even here.

Seeing your confusion, he explains that his friend, Taehyung, was close with the artist. You gasped, not knowing Jungkook was so connected.

"I need to go to the bathroom," he says, leaving you by a strange sculpture of a crying woman.

You wait patiently, forgetting about Namjoon. You're reminded of him, however, when he sneaks up from behind you and gives you a tight hug.

"Why'd you leave?" he muttered, leaning down to rest his head on your shoulder.

"I met an old friend," you explained, and he nodded against your shoulder in understanding.

"Mhm, let's get outta here," he says, and you nod before slinging his arm on your shoulder and heading out.

You fail to notice, however, Jungkook watching your early leave and glaring.

With Namjoon's hand in yours, the two of you get so lost in the music blaring from the shops, happily dancing and skipping through the deserted streets.

"Since I'll be leaving soon, I have a surprise," Namjoon says.

You eagerly follow him, eyes widening as he leads you into a plain field of grass.

"In Boston?" you laugh, admiring the sight.

"Mhm, it's a park. Dummy," he says, giving your arm a playful nudge.

He closes your eyes and leads you forward, which you consider kind of dumb considering it was pitch black outside and you couldn't see anything at all.

But you let him lead you on anyways, and obeyed when he let go of you and told you to keep your eyes shut. You could hear him rummaging through what sounded like a bag, scurrying back and forth along the grass.

"Okay, open," he says excitedly.

You open your eyes and gasp. Namjoon had lit several candles and had a whole mini tent and table set up with all of your favorite foods on the table. It looked beautiful and well-thought, and you felt your heart swell at the sight.
