Once we'd left Ergnya, Amy teleported us to Atlo. We arrived in a farmers field of potatoes where it was raining heavily. The rain was quite miserable to be in but it did give me time to transform back to my ordinary self whilst no one was around. I had forgotten the way to Kingbridge so I talked to Amy and we both agreed that we should get directions from Kate and Dean. So we left the farmers field and trudged through the mud and rain all the way back to Kate and Deans house. In the pesky rainy weather, Kate and Deans house looked welcoming and once we'd come into the house, Kate and Dean were very welcoming, like always.
"Welcome back Layla! We're sorry you got all wet coming home, we could've driven you home if we'd known where you were." Kate and Dean apologised.
"No, no, we were okay, Mr and Mrs Rivers, though we appreciate the thought." Amy responded, taking off her rucksac and putting it on a coat peg.
We walked through to the sitting room and sat down on the sofas gratefully. After all that walking, we were very tired. A few minutes later, Dean walked through and began to talk to us.
"Is there a reason you want to come back home? How did your Mrjk go, Layla?"
I figured it would take too much time to tell Kate and Dean what we were doing.
"It's a long story. But yes, we are here to ask you something. Do you know how to get to Kingbridge from here?"
Dean answered,
"Yes, I do. But why do you need directions? I thought your friend here, Amy, was a teleporter, Layla?"
Amy replied,
"Teleporting uses energy. At the moment I am too tired to teleport."
"I see." Dean answered. "Well first you walk down this road until you get to the 4 yew trees. Then you turn left and go..."
Dean stopped his sentance as Kate entered the room, carrying a plate of cookies and 2 mugs of hot chocolate.
"There to warm you girls up." Kate told us, placing the hot chocolate and cookies on the coffee table carefully.
"Thanks Kate!" I called after her as she left the room.
I bit into one of the cookies. It was so chocolatey, tasty and warm. Kate had always been a good cook.
As Amy and I sipped our hot chocolate and nibbled the cookies, Dean continued,
"You turn left and go down that road until you arrive at the town centre. From there, you turn right, walk down that road until you reach an A-road. You then follow that A-road until you see the footpath and eventually, that footpath will lead you to Kingbridge town square."
"Thanks, Mr Rivers. Though we will need to go soon." Amy told Dean.
At that point, Kate entered the room and heard what Amy had said. She exclaimed,
"No, no, please don't. The rain is expected to be there all night and I don't want either of you to catch a chill in that horrible weather. We'll let Amy stay overnight Layla, so don't worry."
I looked at Amy and said to her,
"Our journey isn't urgent and anyway, we can't go out in the rain tonight. Let's sleep here tonight."
Amy agreed, so that's what we did. We had a sleepover at my foster parents house, sipping hot chocolate and eating cookies all night. Simply wonderful.
The next morning, we would leave to go to Kingbridge.
