Mikasa and I stared at each other. She began to move forward, towards me, none of us breaking eye contact. I could hear the people around us, whispering and murmuring as we stood a few feet away from each other.

"Who do you think is gonna win?"

"Obviously Diana."

"No way! Mikasa will win this!"

"But have you seen Diana fight? Dang that girl is strong."

"So is Mikasa. She's taken down someone twice her height."

"So has Diana!"

"Let's bet on it, yeah?"

I rolled my eyes at the last comment. What exactly would one bet on in this situation? The dinner? Doing the other's chores for a given period of time? I found it quite sad and stupid when people would bet on stupid things instead on basing it on someone's skills.

"Alright you two maggots!" Shadis spoke as he walked towards us. "Since you two are tied for the number one spot, you will fight it out until the last one is standing! Do I make myself clear?!"

"Yes sir!" Mikasa and I answered, none of our gazes wavering.

"Then prepare to battle you pissants!" The Commandant yelled and we got into out fighting stances. Jean was still holding my scarf whereas Mikasa still kept hers wrapped around her neck. No matter where I would see her, she would always be wearing her red scarf. I just concluded that it was important to her.

"You may begin!" Shadis yelled and the crowd of cadets began to shout and cheer. I walked towards my right as Mikasa also walked towards her right, both of our fists raised in front of our chest. We circulated, leaving a respectable distance between us.

'From what I have observed, Mikasa is strong and fast. She was able to throw Reiner a good distance on top of Eren during one of the days of training. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to spar her so I don't know her fighting technique.' I thought to myself.

After a few moments of none of us making a move, I decided to strike fast. I pressed my right foot on the ground harder than before and pushed myself forwards, running towards the noirette. I swung my right fist at her and she immediately made a move a to block my attack. I smirked as she fell for my trick.

With my other hand, I balled it into a fist and went to punch the unprotected side of her head. To my surprise, she grabbed my left wrist, pulled my body towards hers and and lifted her leg to kick me in my stomach.

Due to the sudden move, I staggered backwards, surprised that someone had managed to hit me so early in a fight. Ever since I mastered all the techniques I know, no one has able to land a great hit on me aside from Annie since we spared together on our free days.
