present time
It had been days since Evangeline had seen or spoken to JJ. She had sent him multiple text messages trying to convince him she wasn't lying, checking on him, and just saying hey, even. She was... going through it, to say the least. Sarah had tried multiple times to try to get Evangeline out of bed, but she wouldn't budge. As long as JJ wasn't talking to her, nobody else would get to talk to her either.
"Evangeline? Come help your mother. Hurricanes coming and we need to get prepared for it." Her father instructed.
"Got it, dad. I'm getting up." Her bedroom door was shut by her dad as she groaned. Storm preparation was one of the worst things. Before she got up, she picked up her phone to text JJ again.
i know how crazy you are, babe, but please be safe during the storm. stay inside, and tell john b not to do anything stupid. i miss you ❤️
She let out a sigh because she knew JJ wasn't going to respond. "My God." She sighed. She was beginning to worry about him. Not about the fact that he wasn't replying, but about the fact that Hurricane Agatha was coming.
After some time of storm preparation, she went back inside to her room waiting for it to start. After hours, the power had gone out. Everything was shut off—it was like the Outer Banks was abandoned.
The next morning, Evangeline stirred awake as the bright sunshine shown through her windows. She rubbed her eyes as she remembered the events that went down the previous night. "Shit."
She threw the covers up from over her frame and walked towards the light switch next to her door. She switched it on, and nothing happened. "Great."
Power was still out. That means no nothing—still.
She walked back to her closet and changed her clothes for the day—a pink tank top and white shorts. When she had finished doing everything she needed, she walked downstairs and saw her parents in the kitchen talking.
"Mom, dad... I'm going to Sarah's. I'll be back." She told the two. They agreed and she immediately went to the Cameron residence.
When she arrived, she immediately saw Ward talking to a woman. "What's going on?" Evangeline asked the two.
"Evangeline, this is Lana. She's the wife of Scooter. You know him, right?" he asked her. Evangeline nodded.
"Hi, Lana. I'm Evangeline. Is everything okay?" she introduced herself, shaking the woman's hand.
"I haven't seen Scooter. Have you seen him?"
Evangeline shook her head. "I'm sorry, I haven't seen him. But if I do see anything I'll definitely let you know."
"Thank you." The woman thanked Evangeline.
"Sarah!" Ward called. "You seen the princess?" he asked Rose as she walked up the stairs holding a drink in her hand.
