All Axel wanted was to go home. Why was it so difficult each time?
He was home alright, his foster home. But where he wanted to be, was at his mother's house in Xeliq.
His real home.
Axel fumed at the thought of Linden violating his mother's house. With force, without permission, bullish. He wondered what Linden had found inside. But it was obvious that MaxPol did not need him anymore, else Linden would had looked for him again.
He did not want to ask Mintridge or Stanley or Jane or anyone, about his key and wand anymore. Or his mother's house in Xeliq. They would just say things like 'let MaxPol do their job' or 'we are doing this for your sake'.
Bullshits.
Axel scoured his room and packed all his things into a bag – not that he had much. He would pack the photo last, just before he would leave. He had a plan in his head, but he would need to discuss with Elliot. He could not execute it without Elliot's help.
Because he did not have a wand, dammit, seethed Axel bitterly to himself.
It was an evil scheme by Linden, to cut him off magic.
He could not believe that he had trusted Linden for so long. He seemed genuinely concerned about him. Genuinely wanted to help Axel to bring justice for his parents, to protect him from danger, to find out why his parents had hidden him from the Magical world. Maybe Linden did want to solve the case, but it was all for his benefit, not Axel's.
Axel was only a pawn in Linden's game.
He looked out the window and at the back garden. The tent was still in the garden but there was a patch of burnt grass near the entrance.
The door opened and Elliot walked in warily, and he closed the door behind him.
'Ax, it's me,' muttered Elliot, 'Mom said you won't let anyone in.'
Axel did not say anything, he continued to stare out the window. He wondered if Elliot believed him.
'I saw what happened that day,' said Elliot edgily, 'I was home early, I had the Chemistry lab that day, remember? I heard your voice, shouting, so I looked out. You were in front of the tent, where the patch of burnt bits was. Your wand shot out something strong and you fell to the ground. Then Commissioner Linden, he... he...'
'He what?' snapped Axel agitatedly.
He had no recollection of what had happened outside the tent.
Elliot placed his bag down and sat next to Axel on his bed.
'He revived you,' said Elliot shakily as he recalled his memories, 'you... looked like you were dead, or nearly, but... Dad said it was very close...'
Axel glared at Elliot in disbelief.
'He stole my key and attacked me!' seethed Axel.
'But... he is the Commissioner of MaxPol...' started Elliot.
'So what if he is the Commissioner of the World! He stole my key and my wand too! He attacked me! I just got back from the hospital!' cried Axel agitatedly.
'But what happened in the tent?' asked Elliot, curious.
Axel had suddenly realised that he had not had a chance to retell his side of the story. He gladly retold Elliot everything that happened in the tent. He saw Elliot looking shocked and covering his mouth with his hands. Maybe he had exaggerated some of the attacks, but it was all the truth. Linden did attack him, he did take his key forcefully and he refused to bring Axel to his mother's house in Xeliq. His house.
