Axel stared at the photos, stunned. Was that his father when he was younger and a Magical? The famous actor? Axel's heart raced as he slowly read the article below the photos.
To say that Edward Light was an actor was an understatement. Edward Light was arguably one of the best, if not the most loved actor who had graced our silver screens. As a child actor, he had portrayed countless memorable characters since he was at a tender age of eight. We had literally watched him grew up.
We all watched Edward grew up from a young, modest, charming boy to an attractive, matured and hardworking lad. His portrayal of the characters he had played were endearing, real and heartfelt, which the audiences had no problem connecting with. His skills had improved from strength to strength, winning awards after awards since he was twelve.
Those fortunate enough to have worked with Edward Light, including myself, would agree that he was the most down-to-earth person one could ever meet. Even with his fame and countless awards and accolades, he was always eager to listen to advises and criticism – be it from directors, other actors or even crewmembers or reporters like us.
When he had suddenly disappeared sixteen years ago, the entertainment industry had gone on a standstill. Many projects that he had been working on had to be suspended or cancelled, as nobody knew what had happened to him and if he would ever be coming back.
At the beginning, it was shock and confusion – Edward just did not turn up for filming, which he was always punctual and never missed a shot. Then when words got out that he had just disappeared into thin air – one week, two weeks, one month and then months had passed. People started to grieve when he did not come back after a year.
Edward was anything but irresponsible. Something must had happened to him, but there was no closure. He did not leave any words, messages or anything behind. But suddenly, sixteen years later, he had appeared again – murdered, and he left us a son and a mystery so intriguing, that once again, for the last time, have us all gripping at the edge of our seats.
Next week: Who is Axel Light?
Axel looked at the photos again. The young man was indeed very good looking – charming, eyes twinkling, his smile was captivating. Axel could only recognize his light brown eyes – those were the same eyes – and his smile.
But his other features were... different. Linden did say that his parents had changed some of their appearances to avoid recognition.
Why would they go through so much for him? Axel thought bitterly.
His father had so much in his life. He had sacrificed everything in his life, just for him.
Why?!
It burned him even more when he saw what was coming next week – 'Who is Axel Light?' How could someone he had not met before, write about him? Axel did not even know who he was.
He felt a sudden stabbing pain in his heart again. Twice, since he was in the tent. He quickly looked at Elliot, but Elliot was snoring in the bean bag next to him. He did not have the pain for quite some time now, but he had been feeling it again since his altercation with Linden recently. He did not tell anyone about it, and he would like to keep it that way. He noticed that he would feel the pain especially when he could not control his anger.
Mr. Krow was right, he was indeed, very angry, thought Axel sadly.
His left palm had suddenly stung as well. He had probably rubbed the scars against some grass or while he was unpacking with Elliot. Maybe some insect bites.
