Karen had been at her office when she got the phone call from her mother, she smiled and answered it but frowned when Laurie's panicked voice came over the line. She asked her mother what was wrong and when she answered she told her she was coming, hung up the phone, closed early and took off. She sent Allyson and Cameron a message and told them to meet them at the house, and they did. They found Laurie sitting outside with a pale look plastered across her face. They had all arrived at once, and when they saw her they began to worry. Had her dreams become a reality?
"Mom?" Karen asked softly as she approached her mother. "What is it?"
Laurie looked up at her and went to speak but couldn't. Instead, she got up and walked into the house. They all followed. They hurried inside and looked up at the TV, according to a news broadcast a body had been found behind the local high school in Haddonfield. The broadcasts didn't give any description about the body and the nature of the death, but Laurie was now going into panic mode. It was almost Halloween.
Allyson turned and looked at Cameron with a frightened expression then gripped her stomach tightly. Cameron looked stunned and Laurie was now beginning to pace the room, she ran her hands through her hair and then turned to them,
"What if it's Michael?" Laurie asked quietly and Cameron ran his hands through his hair and turned and paced, Laurie was on the verge of breaking down but Karen stopped her. "What if he's come back!?"
"He died in that fire!"
"So did all those fire fighters!"
Karen looked at Allyson with a look that couldn't be described, but Allyson knew she was going to explode. Karen kept herself together, she'd been working too hard on mending Laurie and herself for it all to be thrown away now. "He's dead! You burnt him alive in that basement!"
Allyson ran upstairs and went into her bedroom. She slammed the door shut then went over to her closet, pulled the door open and stepped inside and grabbed the chest that was hidden away and opened it with the key chain that was around her wrist. She stuck it into the hole and turned it then removed the lid and reached in and wrapped her hands around the revolver and lifted it. She inspected it then quickly shoved it back in when she heard footsteps, she stood up and Karen came in with teary eyes. Allyson closed the closet without suspicion and walked to her mother and hugged her tightly.
"It's going to be okay" Allyson said softly.
Karen nodded as she let out a little cry. "We've worked so hard on fixing this. I can't watch her go down this path again".
"She won't", her daughter said. "I won't let her. We will fix things".
"What if she is right?" Karen asked. "There were no survivors of that fire. The firefighters never came out. What if somehow he is alive and somewhere in Haddonfield?"
"It's impossible, mom" commented Allyson. "He couldn't have pulled through that".
Karen sat down on Allyson's bed and sighed and threw her head back and closed her eyes. "How do we know that for sure?"
"We just need to have faith. What ever happened is unrelated".
