The name held much weight, enough to crush two strong people to ground.
The sight held the shattered feeling both had after they heard the name
Pallavi understood that, may be, this one name was the reason Raghav had all those nightmares , those which only made him worse by keeping him awake all night. It always became a herculean task for pallu to make him go back to sleep. She could easily conclude he had no proper sleep since some incident in the past which he never revealed to anyone - not even to her!
Mansi looked at the two broken friends with empathy but she knew what she was doing. It was much needed because after what she will reveal to them, it will definitely make them realise what they did to themselves all these years.They deserved to know about 'her'. Need of the hour for that matter.
She continued ,
" Divya was a drug addict. She took drugs to come out of a heartbreak she had in college. I suppose you both know it."
Both of them nodded in a no.
She closed her eyes in disbelief.
" And you guys claim to be her best friends at that time ?
Wow ! " She stated.
" Her habit turned into addiction only when she was introduced to high class of depressants by some of the drug dealers. Probably a bad influence."
Their eyes widened when she was explaining. She continued,
" she hid this fact from you both in a very smart way and then she had to face consequences. The day she had a big fight with you two she got back home and pondered over this matter. She felt guilty and then she with help of her father visited my professor's de-addiction centre. She started her treatment and was responding well. But don't know what happened, she did not return to the centre for 2 consecutive appointments. My professor enquired into this and found she was hospitalized. When she was brought back to our centre she was already in critical condition. "
" Nidhi! Get me the envelope " she said
Nidhi handed over the envelope and she took out the documents and showed them
" This report clearly says that she succumbed to her drug overdose. This was given by my professor after her postmortem was done. It was sealed and approved by government officials of our centre. It's just a proof ! There is more to this one.
She was in critical condition and my professor treated her well. She was strictly restricted to have anything alcoholic. After a week of her treatment she begged us to give permission coz you guys had football match finals. She was very excited and said she was lucky charm of you two so she had to be there. Though everyone strictly warned her to be in senses, she was adamant on going with you guys. Eventually she got permission. The next day we found her on death bed. We don't know what happened to her last night because she was responding well to all the treatment.
Later when I investigated into this matter I found that she was drunk that night and she had traces of drugs in the blood. Her liver went into toxic state. When she was in our centre's emergency ward, she did not lose hope coz she wanted to live for you guys. Her body did not support her wish to live. She came out of the attack after operation but she somehow knew death was ready to embrace her. Her body only gave her few hours to live. She made sure she leaves so many things for you guys but It didn't reach you all these years.
