BILLS, BOOZE & BETRAYAL | CHAPTER 06
"Lottie, we're going to the mall, darling, not the Fashion week!" I shout for the third time in the san of the past five minutes and impatiently tap my foot against the hardwood floor. She's taking ages to get ready.
"Louis, you asshole, you're always the one taking time to get ready, give me a fucking minute."
"Yet, I'm standing here waiting for you." I say with a notorious grin on my face, knowing that I can argue with her all I want and not get chastised by mom or Mark. It's honestly taking me back to when we were kids and had to take care of the twins while mum went off to work. It's fun, it's familiar and it's turning to be slightly scary because Lottie is livid.
"I'm never going shopping with you ever again." She huffs as we get out of our place and I settle down in the driver's seat.
"Alright, alright, I was only messing with you little sister." I say with a grin and she huffs yet again, just with much more flair for the dramatics.
"Okay, I'm sorry. Call it even?" I say as I pass her the AUX chord and she finally grins, knowing she's gotten what she wanted all along and I roll my eyes before turning into the main road as she ponders on what to play.
Reaching the mall, we do our age-old, mandatory, reserved-to-us, fancy handshakes and split ways, agreeing to meet up back here after fetching our gifts for each other. I immediately make my way to the third floor of the mall and into the much reputed jewellery store, knowing exactly what I want for Lottie.
Christmas was the one time of the year where I took advantage of Mark's wealth and actually used the usual allowance he transfers to all our accounts every month, in addition to that hefty amount of the trust funds, and splurge my ass off for my family, including Mark.
I placed the order two weeks ago and I can't wait to see it, I just hope I don't melt into a puddle of tears when I do. To commend her success with the magazine and everything she has achieved on her own, I decided on getting one of grandma's brooches that she loved. We'd always been close to our maternal grandma and she was definitely biased to Lottie.
Whatever morals and lessons my sister carries with her today, a majority of those were taught to us by our grandmamma, and I know she'll love this gift. Completing the payment, I rapidly make my way to the car and hide it there so that Lottie cannot even begin to guess what it is.
I head to the café in the mall and place orders for both of us when I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket with a message.
Zayn: Just picked up your Christmas present. You're gonna love it, maybe just a little too much. Can't wait to see it *in* you. ;)
Oh, shit. I forgot about Zayn. I face-palm myself and type in a reply as my mind takes off at about a hundred miles an hour to think up of a gift for him.
Stupid, Louis, so stupid. How could you forget Zayn?
Biting my lip, I pick up my phone again and call Lottie.
"Lots, how much more time are you gonna take?"
"I'm sorry, Lou, this is going to take me at least 20 more minutes."
"Alright, tell me where you are, I'll give you the coffee I picked up for you."
"Oh, I'm on the fourth floor."
"Perfect."
I smile to myself and get to the fourth floor. I find her waiting by the escalator, itself, pretty sure so that I can't find out what store she's buying from.
