"Goddamnit, what are you doing out here?"

I screamed like mad when I heard an oddly familiar voice and felt a hand on my shoulder. I slapped the hand off myself like a madwoman and turned around in shock.

Lucas. My eyes were big, his probably bigger. I didn't know which one of us was more surprised. Me because he scared the shit of me, or he because I just hit him.

We stared at each other for what felt like an eternity and then I started laughing. "Have you gone crazy sneaking up on someone like that?"

Lucas frowned and looked as terribly powerful as ever, but it all kind of bounced off my alcohol wall.

"Sneaked up? I've been calling after you all the time. For a second, I thought it wasn't you because you didn't react."

"Why were you calling after me? What are you doing here?" I looked around so I knew where this "here" actually was. I was probably ten minutes away from headquarters by now.

He buried his hands in his pants' pockets and scowled at me. "I had errands to run."

"What kind of errands?" I asked interested.

"Confidential information, I'm sorry," he said sharply and I winced. He didn't seem to be in a good mood.

"All right then. Twice I call it coincidence, but the third time it's stalking, buddy," I dared a little joke, after all, it was the second time I came across him by chance in the last few days. And both at very inconvenient moments. Thinking back to the time I – like a big ass loser – cried my heart out at his shoulder, before he drove us both to Ten's apartment, I almost cringed. Thanks to the alcohol in my blood I didn't find it as embarrassing as I would soberly.

Lucas didn't move, so I shrugged my shoulders and turned my back on him, continuing my walk. But somehow my own feet got in the way and I stumbled, but fell more gracefully than expected just to my knees.

"Shit, that was unnecessary," I muttered, my voice choked.

"Are you drunk or what's wrong with you?" I heard his voice and shortly afterward his fingers around my wrist. He pulled me up and frowned again. "And what are you wearing anyway? Your hand is freezing cold."

Apparently, I had completely forgotten the cold, but involuntarily, I shivered at his words. Lucas raised an eyebrow in amusement and then took off his leather jacket and hung it over my shoulders. I was too perplexed to somehow stop him and when I felt the warmth on my body, I immediately dismissed the objections.

"So where are you going to?"

I just shrugged my shoulders. "I locked myself out from Ten's apartment."

"Why don't you call him?" he asked blankly and I shrugged my shoulders again.

"Both Mark and he are drunk and sleeping."

It was the first time that Lucas responded in any way to my words. A smile spread over his features and strangely enough I suddenly felt very uncomfortable.
