My father, King Alexander II of Caldane, along with his wife, Queen Oriana have ruled over our lands for decades ever since my grandfather fought for them and came to peace with our neighboring countries Barakia, Grandonia, and a few others that I can't remember the names of. They called it the Elemental War, or the Battle of Dungeons since it was a battle of their elemental power and because the term 'Dungeon' is used to refer to all those that harness a specific elementally based power. (I'll explain more below).

Our whole race are descendants of the many different Gods that rule mostly up above in their sky domain. Dad and my cousin, Gathalia are descendants of the Fire Mistress, Anwara, placing them into the family of Black Dungeons. Fire is the power-source. My older brother, Aayan, and Mother are descendants of the God of Wind and Speed, Manojavan, placing them into the Purple Dungeon family, whose power-source is air. Prince Vidarr of Barakia is a Green Dungeon, descended of the God of Earth and Wood, Tlaloc, whose source of power is predictably nature. The last Dungeon is Blue, whose power-source is water and ice; they are descendants of the Goddess, Eldora.

The Gods do not claim their children until 16 years of age and when they do, their children receive access to their power and the intricate little tattoos on their wrists that they were born with turn the color of the dungeon they are claimed into. Princess Eularia, Vidarr's younger sister, and I are only 15; Eularia will turn 16 next month and I in a few after.

Anwara, Manojavem, Tlaloc, and Eldora are the Elemental Four; they are the most powerful of all the deities. Then, there are those called Simple Shades, who are offspring of the minor Gods and whose powers aren't as solely based as the Elemental Four's. I haven't yet learned their names. Simple Shade's wrist tattoos (we call inscriptions) turn white to signify that they aren't as powerful as the others; they aren't descended of one of the Four.

Having informed you of everything concerning myself, my family, and our history, I think you are ready to begin with me on my journey.
