Emma reaches the shared bedroom that her and about 10 of the other kids slept in together during their stay at the Paradise Hideout. Luckily, it was empty during the day since everyone was busy exploring the huge base and going about their daily activities.

Normally, she would have been glad to have run into her friends or siblings here. This often lead to her joining them in a philosophical chat or a quick card game as they lounged around in the comfy beds Norman had provided them, but this time she was relieved to find there wasn't anyone already occupying the room.

After all, Emma didn't want anyone to see her injuries— especially not her younger siblings.

She closes the door and tosses the medical supplies onto her bed before taking off her button up shirt, revealing a myriad of scratches and bruises on her arms from having almost been eaten by the demon guards at the mass production farm they had raided a couple days ago.

Around her torso was an old bandage that covered up her wounds from Leuvis' attack, the white wrapping spanning all the way from the bottom of her bra to just over her belly button.

Emma also had a rather worn out bandage on her left hand from when she, Ray, Don and Gilda had to draw blood from their palms the first time they tried to reveal the entrance to the Seven Walls. She was glad that the ritual had worked, but her hand still throbbed sometimes from the wound.

Looking down at the supplies laid out on her bed, she decided that she would start by cleaning the fresh scratches on her forearms and wrapping them up first. She would deal with the older bandages after.

Usually, Anna, Zack, or Ray would help her with her dressings, but Anna and Zack were busy looking over the medical texts they had discovered in the Hideout's library, and Ray was with Pepe cooking dinner for the hundreds of children that also took refuge here.

If she really needed, she could have gotten Gilda or Oliver to help her today, but she thought it best to have the least amount of people worry about her right now, especially for things like injuries. Besides, she had watched how Anna had done her wrappings before, so Emma knew she would be just fine doing them on her own.

Sitting cross-legged on the bed, she takes out a cotton ball and dabs it in the alcohol solution, then presses it to the cuts along the outside of her arm. She winces as she feels the sharp sting on her skin, the pain familiar to her from having to clean the many other injuries she's collected in the demon world, but uncomfortable all the same. The orange-haired girl endures a few more minutes of this before inspecting her arm for any that she's missed.

After the stinging has subsided and she's sure she got to all of the marks along her arm, she takes the roll of bandage that sat on her sheets and wraps it carefully around her arm. When she's finished, she rips off a piece of tape with her teeth and neatly secures the white wrapping in place. With a final once-over and a satisfied nod to herself, she begins the process again on her other arm.

Emma was just about to grab the tape off of her sheets again when she hears a quick knock at the door. She jumps slightly at the sound, worried it might be one of her younger siblings. Her sudden jolt of surprise causes the tape to tumble off of her bed and onto the hardwood floor, the small cylinder rolling away from her and towards the room's entrance.
