After climbing up the hill, Asri smiled as she heard her brother 'wow' at Alberto's home, which was a stone tower that was starting to crumble at the top.
"Mother of pearl, you live up here?" Luca asked.
"Yeah, me and my dad. He's not even around that much so I pretty much just do what I want" Alberto explained as he took the stuff Luca and Asri were carrying.
He tossed them into the small pile of things that was sitting by the ladder that led up into the tower.
"Isn't it dangerous?" Luca asked.
"Yeah. It's great bro. Everything that's good is above the surface"Asri stated, crossing her arms.
"Like what?" Luca asked.
Asri and Alberto shared a look full of mischief.
At the top of a hill, Asri and Alberto showed Luca a little something called air.
"And apparently, like water, you have to keep breathing it, otherwise you pass out" Asri told him.
Alberto showed Luca another thing. Which was called gravity.
"Gravity, also known as falling!" He cried as he jumped from the top of the tower.
He gave a thumbs up after he landed on the ground.
"Sky, clouds, the sun" Asri said as she pointed the things out.
Luca looked right at the large bright ball of light and Alberto instantly slapped his hand over Luca's eyes.
"Whoa! Don't look at it!" He said.
Then he removed his hand.
"Just kidding. Definitely look at it" he said, squinting his eyes.
Luca looked back at the sun and fell backwards as he was blinded.
"Really?" Asri asked.
Alberto shrugged.
"Don't worry little brother. It lasts for a few minutes" Asri told Luca, who was on his back rubbing furiously at his eyes.
After his vision cleared up, Asri and Alberto took him back to the tower.
"And then, there's human stuff" Asri said, gesturing up the ladder.
Luca climbed up the ladder, followed by Alberto and Asri.
"As you can see, me and Asri have been collecting for a long time, so, ask us anything" Alberto stated as Luca took a look around.
Luca approached an old school music box.
"What is this?" He asked.
"Ah, that is the magic singing lady machine" Alberto said.
"It's broken, unfortunately" Asri added.
Luca put in a handle and turned it. The music box began generating music.
"Whoa! You unbroke it!" Alberto said excitedly as he rushed over.
Asri watched in amusement as both boys put their ears to the trumpet part, listening to the music that came out. Then, Luca noticed something that was behind Alberto.
It was a poster, with a human riding a vespa on it.
"What's that?" He asked.
"Oh, that's just the greatest thing humans ever made. The Vespa!" Asri told him.
"You just sit in it, and takes you wherever you want to go. In the whole stinkin world!" Alberto added.
Asri watched as Luca zoned out a bit, so she snapped her fingers in his face.
"Hey, bro, you good? You zoned out a bit there" she said as Luca startled out of his little daydream.
"Yeah, uh, are you guys going to make one? You have all the parts" Luca said.
Asri and Alberto looked around as the realization dawned on them.
"We do have all the parts. We are going to make one! Wanna help?" Alberto said to Asri.
She nodded excitedly and turned to Luca.
"Wanna do this with us?" She asked.
"Uh, yeah! Wait, no, ugh, I can't, I gotta go home!" Luca replied as he turned around.
"Right this second?" Alberto asked, sharing a confused look with Asri.
"Yeah, if my parents found out I was up here, phew, it would be bad. So, thank you, both of you, but..." Luca said before his eyes flitted over to the Vespa poster.
Yeah, an hour later, Luca was helping Alberto and Asri build a Vespa.
"Okay, now I really do have to go" he said eventually.
"Okay, bye" Alberto said.
Forty five minutes later, and Luca was still there helping Asri and Alberto.
"Okay, seriously, I have to go, like right now" he said as Alberto spun a wheel.
"Okay, see ya" Asri told him as she held up some of the things so that it wouldn't crush Alberto.
And two hours later, Luca stood there as he observed the finished product with Asri and Alberto.
"It's even better than the picture" Luca breathed.
"Yeah, it is" Alberto agreed.
"Oh shoot, Luca, we gotta run buddy" Asri realized.
"See you guys tomorrow!" Alberto called.
The two siblings got home, not knowing what was waiting for them.
"Ooo, I hope we're not in too much trouble" Asri said as she flicked her tail from side to side.
"Luca! Asri! Where have you two been?!" Daniela demanded, circling her tail around them to prevent them escaping.
Asri and Luca shared a look.
"Surface" Luca said casually before he covered his mouth.
Asri stiffened beside him.
"What did you just say?!" Daniela said angrily.
Lorenzo popped up behind her.
"What is wrong with your foot?!" He asked pointing at it.
Luca screamed as he held his human foot. He felt something elbow him and looked over to see Asri, who was tilting her head towards their mother.
"Luca, going to tell me where you've been?" Daniela asked.
"Um..." Luca said, trailing off.
"It's my fault. I sent them out to look for sea cucumbers" their grandmother said.
"Right! Sorry grandma. Me and Luca couldn't find any" Asri piped up, looking a little dejected.
"Mom! Their lives are maybe a little more important than your snacks" Daniela stated as she swam off.
"Thank you" Luca mouthed to his grandmother with a grateful smile.
"Come on, let's get to bed" Asri said.
The two went to their room and giggled over their close call.
Then they settled into their beds of seaweed and went to sleep...
