I wake up to the sound of children crying and screaming, my typical wake up call. I rise from my surprisingly comfortable twin bed and yawn. Today was an important day, it was September 1rst. It was a warm, breezy day in London and everyone was preparing to leave for school.

You might think that this a normal house, with normal people and it's a normal first day of school. But I have to tell you that none of that is true. Nothing about this is normal in your sense. My name is Celeste Black, I live in an orphanage for witches and wizards, even though my father is still alive. I have no knowledge about who he is and why he left me. Everytime I ask about it, the question is avoided by Miss Margeret, the Nurse who takes care of us. Today everyone is leaving for Hogwarts, it's actually my first day! I turned 11 last week and I received my acceptance letter earlier this summer. I was elated!

I grab my trunk filled to the brim with spellbooks, quills and everything else I need for my year at Hogwarts. I grab my wand from the "wand locker". Miss Margeret installed a bunch of pouches with our names on it to keep our wands during the night time. We are allowed to have it during the day in case of an emergency. Miss Margeret told all the children who were not yet in Hogwarts to go sit at the breakfast table. Miles Burgeon, the youngest at the orphanage, starts bawling. He is 2 years old and usually doesn't cry, but I guess he was overwhelmed by the excessive amount of noise and movement. Miss Margeret tells Mia, a 10 year old girl, to pick up Miles and bring him to the table.

I finish packing and start to haul my heavy trunk down the hall. Zak, a strong 15 year old boy who is starting his 6th year at Hogwarts, cuts me off in the hallway.

"You're too small to be carrying that all by yourself." He smirks at me.

"Well, can you help me?" I ask.

"No." He states plainly, and walks downstairs to get some breakfast. I scoff at his rudeness and continue to haul my trunk down the hall towards the stairs. Then suddenly, my trunk starts flying down the stairs for me. I look back and see Izzie with her wand out pointing at my trunk. Izzie is another nurse at the orphanage, but she's still in training. She is a tall, slim woman, with long brown hair and green eyes.

"That Zak.." she rolls her eyes, "..what a jerk." She sends me a small smile and heads down to get breakfast.

I hurry down the stairs and meet everyone for breakfast. As usual we had quite a bit of food, which apparently is nothing compared to the amount of Hogwarts. I grabbed an egg and a piece of toast.

"You should get changed Celeste. We are leaving in half an hour." Miss Margeret says while buttering Miles' toast. I nod and finish my breakfast quickly. I ran upstairs and put on a yellow hoodie and a pair of black leggings. I combed my black wavy hair into a long french braid and smiled at myself in the mirror. I was always a little self conscious about my appearance, especially my eyes. My eyes were each a different color, one was brown and the other blue. Even though everyone told me that they were beautiful and unique, I always thought they looked weird.

Everyone headed to the grand limousine the ministry of magic had provided us. I excitedly sat in the back of the car and stared out the window. We didn't get many excursions in the orphanage, we went on little field trips once every two months but that was it. The only other excursion that we do is going to Diagon Alley to pick up our things, and going to the King's Cross station. But only those who were going to Hogwarts did those. I looked at all the funny buildings and big buildings with plenty of windows. I watch as muggle children play football in the fields. I watch them with interest until we turn a corner and the children are no longer visible.

When we finally reach the train station, I suddenly get very nervous. A bunch of nervous thoughts swarm around in my head. 'What if they send me back because I am not smart enough?' 'What if everyone makes fun of me for not knowing my family?' Thoughts like those were starting to cloud up my initial excitement. Miss Margeret hurries us to platform 9. I knew that the platform was 9 ¾ but I did not see the sign. Then Miss Margeret was telling everyone to run into the post where it has the sign 9 on it. I started to freak out, no one told me about this. Guess it just slipped their mind. Nevertheless my turn came up. I gripped the handles of my trolley very hard and started to break into a run towards the barrier, I closed my eyes and then I suddenly was in a whole different place. I looked around to see a completely crowded platform, full of people saying goodbye to their children who were heading to Hogwarts. I gasped and saw a magnificent train with the words Hogwarts Express on it.

I waited as the rest of the kids from the orphanage piled onto the platform and we picked our way through the crowd. We put our trunks on the train and went back out to say goodbye to Izzie and Miss Margaret. We all took turns to hug Miss Margaret and Izzie goodbye.

"You behave now, ok? Hogwarts was one of the best experiences of my life. Be sure to enjoy it!" I nod my head eagerly and head excitedly to the train. I get onto the train and proceed to find somewhere to sit. The train gives a sudden lurch and I grip onto one of the carriage doors for support.

"Hullo! You can sit here if you'd like." A redheaded boy with quite a few freckles motions for me to sit with him and another boy with messy jet black hair and glasses. I nodded and sat down next to the boy with glasses.

"I'm Ron Weasley, by the way!" He says to the boy and I.

"I'm Harry Potter!" The boy with the glasses states. Ron and I both gasp.

"Your Harry Potter?" I say, hardly believing I was sitting next to Harry Potter.

"Do you have the..you know...the scar?" Ron asks curiously. Pointing at Harry's forehead. Harry pulls back his hair and shows a lightning scar, where He Who Must Not Be Named, had cursed him that fateful night.

"Wow! That's so cool!" I say grinning. We talked for a while about our families while the train passed through valleys full of farm animals and vast forests. I already felt at home.
