Oikawa sighed as he got back from practice, flopping on the couch.
Iwaizumi was keeping Tobio company on the dining table after he came back from school. Tobio was drawing something with his new crayons he got for his birthday, while Iwaizumi either compliments his drawings or scrolls through his social media.

Iwaizumi looked up from his phone when he heard Oikawa sigh.
"i'll be right back" he told Tobio, but he was too into his coloring to even register what his dad had said.
Iwaizumi stood up and headed to Oikawa, sitting next to him.
"hey."
Oikawa stared at him blankly, and Iwaizumi started to worry.
"is everything okay?"

"i just—" he sighed, looking down, "i don't know—i cant explain it but i also can— i don't want to have to say it" the brunette rambled.
Iwaizumi grew even more worried as he placed his hand over the other's, giving him a reassuring squeeze.
"it's okay, just calm down first, then we'll talk, kay?"
Oikawa nodded then glanced at Tobio to make sure he couldn't hear.

"uhh...so..." he bit his lip as he tried to explain, but Iwaizumi spoke up,
"just be blunt about it, it's fine"
"i have to travel to Argentina for at least 5 years for volleyball!" he blurted out.
Iwaizumi's eyes widened in shock, still trying to process.

"...what?"

"i—i know! but...i have to, there's no other choice if i want to continue my volleyball career..."

"but—what about me? what about Tobio? have you even considered how he'd feel if we left miyagi? if he left his friends?!"

"i know! i know! that's why...i'd have to go alone. i could visit every summer of the year! we could facetime everyday and—"

"it's not going to work." he interrupted, "i don't do long distance. that's why we settled in Miyagi, where we both could work closer to each other and Tobio's school."

"i also know that! so...we just...we either go together to Argentina for a few years and...come back to japan after i'm done. Tobio could see his friends again, or i leave alone, and visit 2 months a year." he stated. he really didn't like the last choice. they both know they can't do long distance, especially with Tobio and stress from work. Iwaizumi wouldn't be able to handle him alone, and he can't keep asking his friends to take care of Tobio.

"when are you supposed to be leaving?" Iwaizumi sighed, trying to think this through.

"next week..."

"next week?! Tooru— shouldn't you have told me sooner about this?! like a month ago or something?!"

"they just told me like two days ago but i couldn't bring it up because Tobio was so happy at the beach and you were exhausted from Taka and Issei so i couldn't just—bring it up!"

Iwaizumi sighs again, in frustration this time.
"okay, we uh, we have time to think about this...we just need to talk to Tobio about it."

They both seemed to regret that idea. they didn't want to just tell Tobio about it all of a sudden. to say goodbye to his friends and move away when he was living a stable life here.

"we'll talk to him. together."

Oikawa nodded, and they both got up from the couch and approached Tobio.
Once Tobio noticed them, he happily showed them his finished colored drawing.

"look!! this—this is Shoyo, and Kei, and tadashi, and me!! and and— we're playing volleyball! Shoyo says he likes to spike, so he's jumping to spike, here" he points at an orange scribble that's jumping above the net, "and Kei is really tall! so he can block!" another scribble of a yellow-haired tall figure next to Shoyo, "then Tadashi! he doesn't like playing much so he serves! like—uhm! pinch server!" green haired with a little antenna coming out of his hair from the top was shown at the back of the court with a ball. "and me!!" he pointed at himself, who was serving a ball to the orange scribble. he rambled on about his drawing excitedly and they both looked at each other, unsure of how to say it.

"Tobio." Oikawa whispered, "your drawing is amazing, i love it" he smiled softly, making Tobio grin. it hurt to bring it up when he looked so happy, but if he did it sooner, it'd be better, so he can properly say goodbye to his friends.

"we want to talk to you about something." Iwaizumi said this time, and Tobio turned to look at him, "we're..." he sighed, "we're moving to Argentina next week."

Tobio tilted his head, "where's that?"

"it's...far from here. like, airplane-far."

Tobio furrowed his eyebrows, "is Shoyo coming too?"

"no, Tobs, it's just us."

"will i still see him again?" with every question he asked, Oikawa's heart felt heavy, he felt guilty that he had to separate him from his friends.

"well, yeah. you can call him everyday. but we'll come back after a while."

"how long?"

"i'm not really sure. 5 years? 6?"

Tobio gasped in both amazement and disappointment, "that's too long!!"

"yeah. but we can manage. you'll get to talk to Shoyo if you want, whenever you want. we could get your friends a goodbye present, huh? you can also make friends there in Argentina. and Shinji can come too." Oikawa tried to cheer up, and it seemed to work slightly. Tobio wasn't that overwhelmed with what he was told like they expected, he didn't throw a tantrum either.

in fact, he was excited. his eyes lit up slightly, they both saw it.
