"Ano nasaan ka na?" The other line said.
"Wait I'm still here", I said frustrated.
"Hurry up, kanina pa kami naghihintay dito sa club"
"Make your asses wait I'm still finding my car keys" I said.
"Bilisan mo miss ka na ng barkada", Lara said.
Ugh! Where did I put my car keys? Late na ako. Pacing around the house finding my keys, and suddenly I saw it under my table top.
"Ayun! Nahanap ko na, kaya maghintay na kayo jan", I said and grabbed my bag and headed out the door.
"Bilisan mo na", sabi ni Lara before putting down the call.
Driving alone at night and seeing familiar places makes me think on what I have thought on going home here again. I should've not gone back here; I have no plans on coming home again. But I need to come home for Abby and Marsela's engagement party next week, she said that if I won't come home, they won't continue the wedding without me. Which Sela surprisingly agreed with. I don't know what is going on the minds of that couple. With that unknowingly I have arrived at the club where the party is taking place. I parked my car and pumunta na sa entrance ng club and nakita kong naghihintay si Lara saakin sa labas.
"Oy kanina pa kita hinihintay tagal mo talaga", inis na sabi ni Lara.
"May sinabi ba akong hintayin mo ako, jowa?" asar ko sa kanya.
"Tagal na non, naalala mo pa?" natatawang sabi niya.
Tignan mo tong babaeng toh bilis magbago ng mood. Buti na lang walang jowa to paano na lang kaya kung meron kawawa ang babae sa pag-uugali neto.
"Syempre jowa ikaw pa ba", sabi ko sabay kindat sa kanya na ikinatawa niya ulit. I hooked my arms on hers at sabay na kaming pumunta sa entrance.
"Kaibigan namin nila Abby", sabi niya sa bouncer na nagbabantay sa labas.
"Sige po ma'am", sabi niya at binuksan na ang pintuan.
When we entered the club, it was so big and so loud inside. I barely hear my thoughts, this is the first time seeing this place because I was in States for 5 years and this just opened last year. I still can't believe how far we all we've reached in life now, besides our parents' money. Time flies so fast.
"Let's go, tignan na natin yung iba nasa taas sila." sabi ni Lara. Di ko narinig yung sinabi niya pero bigla na lang akong hinila in the seas of people on the dance floor. Gago neto kakarating ko palang pawisan na ako.
Habang pataas kami naririnig ko na boses ni Ecka na napaka-ingay. Di pa rin talaga nagbabago mga ito, pagkarating namin sa taas. In plain sight, when they saw me bigla silang tumahimik at biglang nagtakbuhan ang lima saakin at bigla akong inatake ng yakap.
"GIAAAA!!!!", sigaw nila. "NAMISS KA NAMIN GINIGIL!" I feel like fainting, di ako makahinga. Kakarating ko lang papatayin na nila agad ako.
"Can't breathe", sabi ko habang pumipiglas sa mga yakap nila. Amoy alak pa naman ang mga to ang babaho.
"Oy di na makahinga yung tao", sabi ni Lara papalapit saamin at tinatanggal ang mga yakap nila saakin.
"KJ naman neto ni Lang", pagrereklamo ni Abby.
I'm still panting on the shortness of breath kanina sa pagkayakap nila. Mga bobo kung di ko lang kaibigan ang mga ito kanina ko pa to pinagsusuntok.
"Ano ok ka na?"
"Wait", I said and raised my right palm. When once I recovered, "Dumbasses, you also killed me!" I exaggerated and they laughed.
"Key word 'Almost' killed", pang-aasar ni Ecka. Which they loudly laughed again at binatukan ko.
"Why is there only 7 of us? Naiintindihan ko naman na wala si Ate Alice pero asan si Jaydee?" Tanong ko.
"Sabi niya hahabol daw siya mamaya eh" sabi ni Gabb.
"Saan siya pumunta?", I asked again kasi siya lang wala sa barkada ngayon, I understand naman Ate Alice why she is not here because she is busy running their hospital.
"Nakalimutan mo ba?" tanong ni Dian.
"Na ano?"
"Today is the 15th of the month. Alam mo naman kung saan yun pumupunta every 15", sabi ni Dian.
"Oh shit I forgot, she still goes there after 7 years?"
"Oo alam mo naman na yun greatest love eh, nakalimutan nga rin namin eh na 15 ngayon pero nayaya na namin lahat sabi naman ni Dong na wag na icancel susunod na lang daw siya" sabi ni Dana.
"Hmmm..." that was all I responded because I can't imagine how hard it would have been if I were on Jaydee's place.
"Stop with that sad hour, we are here to party!" Jaydee suddenly burst on the room.
We can see the sadness in her eyes that she is masking on her happy smile. Namumugto pa rin ang mata pero pinilit pa rin niyang sumunod dito.
"Halika rito", I said offering a hug.
"Ate Gia namiss kita!" she said papunta saakin at niyakap ako.
"Ok ka lang Dong?" tanong ko.
"Ok lang Ate, tama na yan nandito tayo sa pagdating mo di para saakin" sabi niya sabay tawa ng mahina. "Sadyang na timing lang" sabay tawa niya ng mahina.
Kahit ideny niya pa ng paulit-ulit makikita naman sa kanya na nasasaktan pa rin siya.
"Sige na tara na ron", hila ko sa kanya kung nasaan ang mga iba kasama mga jowa nila.
Isa lang masasabi ko. SANA ALL.
Umupo na kami sa isa sa mga tables sa room kung nasaan sila Gabb at Coco.
"Ano gusto mo Dong? Kukuha ako ng iinumin natin", tanong ko sa kanya.
"Kung ano na sayo Ate", sagot niya saakin.
Dumiretso na ako kung nasaan ang mga alak. Kumuha ako ng isang bote ng Black Label at naglakad na pabalik sa table namin. While walking I can't stop myself from scanning the whole room, observing them one by one thinking that some of them already found their person and there is me, sitting besides Jaydee. While I was seated, isinalin ko ang kinuhang bote sa aking baso at ininom. While scanning the room I was fixated on the entrance of the room, seeing the person I unexpected to see at the party.
'Oh she was invited. Stupid Gia, of course she would be here di lang naman ikaw kaibigan nila" I said to myself.
With that statement I got another drink and drank it straight up. Ibinalik ko ang tingin ko sa babaeng aking nakita, and I saw someone that I was really not expecting to see with the person that was once my world.
"Ba't kasama niya yun, Dong?", tanong ko.
Tinignan niya kung ano ang tinitignan ko and she hesitantly looked at me and told me, "Ah Ate di mo pa po alam? Fiance niya po hehe", sabi ni Jaydee sabay kamot sa batok na hindi niya alam if it is the right to say it.
"Ohh", that was all I have to say. Did not expect this to happen today. I just got here and all I would receive at the end is pain. After seeing her it got back to me on how we met, first talked and gave promises to each other. While in my deep thoughts, I did not realize that she was already in front of me.
"Hi Gia, nice to see you again", she said to me all smiley, looking at me with the same eyes that saw me her world too in the past years. Her talking to me again like nothing happened and it's all ok now. I haven't noticed that I haven't respond and suddenly Jaydee nudged me on my shoulders, which brought me back to reality.
"Nice to meet you again, Ella" I smiled to her.
