He looked into the full sized mirror, glancing at the umbrella rack beside him. He remembered that it could rain, judging from the cloudy skies. He brushed some hairs off his emerald green eyes. Adjusting his maroon coat, he got out of the house. The cold wind hitting his face, he grunted. Winter just wasn't his season. He put his headphones on and walked on the snowy sidewalk. This almost 16 year old was a so called book worm. A novel addict. A sucker for literature. He visited the book store almost twice a week, an unhealthy obsession. He whistled along with the tune of the unknown song, a few more blocks and he was there. Unlike his younger sister, he appreciates the authors' way of thinking and he/she put in words. His train of thoughts were interrupted as he face planted himself on to a pole. And onto the floor he fell. He winced at the sudden impact he made with the concrete. Not what he was expecting, or wanted to expect...
He stood up and brushed his coat off. He smiled awkwardly at the random people who gave him worried looks. He looked up at a girl who was hesitant to go up to him. He gave a smile once she looked at him. The reaction he got was not what he expected. She rolled her eyes and handed him a tissue. "Here, you're bleeding" she mumbled, crossing her arms. He stared at her as He touched his nose, feeling a warm substance against his frosty fingers. He thanked her and started to wipe the blood. "So how did it go?!" An enthusiastic girl whispered, loudly. "Shut up, I just want my Hershey's bar now" the girl said. "But you didn't do what I told-"
"I gave him a tissue, woohoo. Now give me my chocolate" she deadpanned. He widened his eyes at the scene infront of him and dismissed it. He took his time getting to the bookstore. He greeted the cashier, starting a small conversation. "So how's your daily cashier life going for ya?" He said, playing around with stack of bookmarks. "You're so annoying" josh answered, taking the bookmarks away from him. "Go get what you came here for, Ian" he growled. "Someone woke up on the crabby side of the bed today" he mumbled as walked into the mystery/horror section. His eyes racked the stack of books, he was starting to think of having to go to another bookstore since he already read most of what's here. But there's still a lot to read, so such thoughts shouldn't occupy his mind yet. He searched until he found one that sounded nice. He reached for the book, his hand making contact with another one. He looked at the hand the held the same book as he did. He looked up to see the girl from earlier, the one who had given him the tissue. She widened her eyes and so did he. They both pointed at each other and tugged at the book. "Um, I saw this book first?" He said, pulling it. "Um, I grabbed this book first?" She mocked. Now, that started to get on his nerves. "I'm trying to be nice here" he growled, still pulling the book. "Oh I gave up a decade ago" she replied, glaring at me. "Would you leave it?! I bet you aren't a Robert Galbraith fan, judging from your looks" she said, tightening her grip on the book. "Excuse you, but don't judge a book by its cover" he stated. "Well if you see a book filled with dust. It's obviously old. There, anyone could judge it by its cover" she victoriously said. Ian took a few minutes to understand what she meant. Once he did he started to nod at her. "That was a good one. I'm not gonna lie" he said, a smirk tugging at his lips. "Yeah I know. I am , after all, one in a million" she said, grinning. He let out a laugh and loosened his grip on the book. "You know what, you seem like a cool person. You should have the book" he said letting it go. Her smile died and she started to shake her head. "No no you should have it. I like people who appreciate good humor." She said giving it to him. He took it from her shamelessly and smirked at her. "By the way, I don't even know who Robert Galbraith is " he said, As he took the book over to the desk. She took a few moments to realize what just happened. She just got played. She let out a low growl and threw a book at him. He put a hand over his head and snapped his head to her direction. "Asshole" she muttered, dragging her friend out of the store.AN: Hullo there, readers!
