Adam's point of view

When I first saw Amber I felt this feeling in my stomach, like sorta butterflies? I tried to play it cool but I couldn't. After I caught Charlie staring at her I got a bit jealous. I know she isn't mine but still.

Something about her eyes, her smile maybe, but her.

Her.

So I asked her if she wanted to come to the diner with Charlie and I, even though we barley know each other.

When she said yes, I smiled in relief and skated away.

I wanted to look good for Amber so I tried my best to look for the best outfit.

I found it.

AMBER'S POINT OF VIEW

As I went home my dad looked angry.

Why was he so angry?

"Mom?" I asked her.

She was upset.

I went up to her and asked what happened. She said nothing but I knew something was wrong because she was crying and my dad was angry.

"Get out of here right now" my dad told me while coming closer to me.

"Why?" I asked while stepping back.

"DO AS I SAY! My dad yelled right in my face.

"I ASKED WHAT HAPPENED FOR GOD SAKES-" I yelled at him but he cut me off by slapping me across my face.

"Go to hell" I said walking away from him and going up to my room slamming my door.

"DON'T TALK TO ME LIKE THAT! DON'T YOU TALK BACK!" He yelled from behind the door.

I began to cry for a while then got up to get ready. My eyes were swollen from crying so I tried my best to cover up.

AT THE DINER

As soon as I walked in the diner, Charlie and Adam both turned and looked straight at me.

I tried not to make it so obvious that I've been crying but it was obvious.

"Are you ok Amber?" Adam told me while putting his hand on my shoulder.

"Yeah- yeah I'm fine" I looked up at him and smiled with a tear slowly rolling down my cheek.

"Are you sure?" He wipes the tear away. "You can tell us, we'll listen. Trust me"

"Yeah, you can trust us, Amber" Charlie said with a smile.

"Ok.. I um.. my dad well he's been really unsupportive lately and well he hits me. But I'm okay... really." I said slightly smiling, holding in my cry.

"I'm sorry Amber." Adam hugs me tightly resting his chin on my head.

It gave me butterflies.

I feel comfortable with him.

I feel safe.

But I can tell Charlie got jealous because he gave me this look like he was annoyed so I pulled away from Adam and smiled.

Once we ordered our stuff I saw this teenage girl talking to Adam.

She's staring at him.

Smiling.

They look happy

They're hugging.

They're...

Kissing?....

Kissing Adam..

My Adam?

I can feel a tear roll down my cheek.

I can see Charlie looking at me from the corner of my eye.

He looked upset to see me sad

He's coming back

But he looked happy.

I was happy for him though (a little)

"Ooooo Adam!! Who's that!" I tried to make it seem that I was happy when I really wasn't.

"Just Kate" Adam said not even looking at me.

"Oh so when did you meet her?" I asked

"I met her a week ago" he said annoyed and rolled his eyes.

What's wrong with him?

Did I do something?

ADAMS POINT OF VIEW

when I saw Amber, I knew that she was crying because her eyes were swollen.

So I comforted her.

When we were ordering, her and Charlie were a little to close now. They've been talking for a while now. She was laughing. Smiling. I loved her smile but hers was bigger with Charlie.

So I texted my ex Kate.

I tried to make Amber jealous and it worked.
