"Hey dude, did you get your soulmark yet? Lemme see!!!!!" Toby jumped up and down with a huge grin on his face. He tugged on Jim's arm with such force as to nearly knock him over.
"Dude chill! Yes I got it, you can let go of my arm so i can show you!" Jim regained his balance and fixed his jacket. Claire and Toby snapped to attention, but couldn't stop themselves from bouncing in anticipation as they stood in the hallways of Arcadia Oaks High.
Claire had already found her soulmate. The iphone and lipstick tattoo was rather obvious and she and Mary had been together for 2 months now. Toby however didn't have a soulmate, and he was quite content with this. He didn't really want the whole unbreakable bond with this one person. But he did love being the matchmaker.
Jim unzipped his jacket and pulled down his collar to show them the design on his chest. It was a square surrounding a cartoon of a UFO right above his heart. It didn't make any sense to the three.
"What's it mean?" Claire asked.
"Is your soulmate an alien?" Toby wondered.
Claire put her hands on her hips and gave Toby a look.
"Aliens don't exist you dumbass." (Hehe, sure.)
Toby tried to replicate the look to his second best friend, but it just looked like he was squinting at the sun (I mean, Claire is a goddess so...) and opened his mouth to give back a smart retort, but none came. His eyes moved to across the hall. He paused for a moment, then grinned with the look of an old man who's grandchild just got a partner. Because, well, that's honestly what he felt like.

I found him.
"What?" Claire turned to look for whatever he was smiling at. Her eyes found Eli walking in their direction, his left hand adjusting his square glasses and the right hand clutching his books to his chest. At a closer look, she saw a cartoon of a UFO on the cover of his notebook. The design was identicle to the UFO on her best friend's torso.
Oh.
Oh.
Excellent.
"What are you two looking a- oh. Right."
Jim caught sight of the smaller boy walking towards them with his head down.
"I mean, it's not certain. Lots of people could have that design on something," He said.
He watched as Eli silently turned to walk into the classroom they were standing by. He pulled up the strap on his backpack and doing so, he pulled up the sleeve to expose his shoulder.
On said shoulder, there stood a detailed tattoo of Merlin's Amulet. The details were perfect, and it was big enough to cover almost the entire top half of his forearm. The iconic trio simply watched as Eli disappear into the classroom.
"Nope, no doubt about it. It's Eli." Toby stated blankly.
Jim shrugged.
"I mean, I'm not complaining."

Ugh, why is my soulmark so weird? What even is it? Some kind of clock? Fuckin Hell, why can't I have a normal soulmate??? I mean, I've never seen anything like it. Steve thinks it might belong to a super eccentric billionaire or something. I mean, that would explain the weird design. And that would be a cool soulmate to have, and a funny story. The headlines would be like,
ELI PEPPERJACK, HIGHSCHOOL NERD, REVEALED SOULMATE OF...... I don't know, Allison Hargreeves?
Meh. I just hope they're nice. It feels like I'll never find them.
