As I walk into my house, I realize it's completely vacant of all life. My mother is gone. I walk over the the dining table to find a note.
Coraline,
I'm going to be gone for a while. About a week or so. Don't fuck shit up at the house.
-KatherineWow, okay. She didn't even sign it "mom". Awesome. I crumple up the note and walk into my room. I grab my phone and see I have a few texts. All from Adrian.
Hey, Beautiful. Hope you made it home safe.
Hey, Coraline. I love you, be safe.
Hey gorgeous, I hope you don't mine me texting you.
Hey, just letting you know I'm coming over after school.
I laugh as I see she texted me during class. I begin to answer her when another text comes in.
Hey, Baby Girl. School's out, I will be over soon.
I text back saying, "okay," and drop my phone on the couch. I turn on the TV and mindlessly watch the screen move and dance until Adrian walks in my door without knocking.
She walks in, grabs my arm and pulls me up. I stand up on my feet and look at her. I choke back tears and so does she as she pulls up my sleeve.
I look at the floor as Adrian looks at my arm. "Coraline. They're deeper than last time." I cough, "Y-yeah. I know. I blacked out again."
Adrian pulls my sleeve down again and sighs. She moves past me and sits on the couch. "Where's your mother?" I laugh slightly. "Oh, that bitch? Yeah, she is gone. She left a note saying not to fuck shit up, she will be back in a week."
She laughs slightly, pulling my down onto the couch with her. "Damn, I was hoping you killed her." We both laugh and spend the rest of the day forgetting about everything else but us.
