Four friends living in the slums of Brooklyn, New York struggle with the crime and violence imbedded into their lives while also going through their own personal struggles which yet can be their downfall.
It was now Monday and Messiah was struggling to get up and out of bed. Being locked up back to back for long periods he hasn't really been present in school nor is he used to waking up so early. Finally forcing himself to get up he threw the blankets off of him and made his way to the bathroom to handle his hygiene. Getting out the shower he wrapped a towel around him and proceeded to get dressed, heading downstairs he could smell that something had been cooked . As he rushed towards the kitchen because he was extremely hungry he turned the corner to find his mother at the table eating while scrolling through her email and his brother by the stove scraping the rest of breakfast out the pan.
"Really nigga." Messiah groaned observing all the food he didn't get stuffed onto his brothers plate.
Turning around with a smirk plastered on his face and bacon hanging out of his mouth Devon Bland laughed in his brothers face . "You snooze you lose ." He continued to laugh as he walked out the kitchen. Their mother simply shook her head and went back to checking her emails.
"Ma you gon let this grown ass man take all the food, nigga got a whole house but stay his ass up in here how dat work." Messiah questioned.
"Siah here." His mother Anya groaned as she reached into her purse and pulled out a ten dollar bill "When one of your friends pick you up just go get something to eat and tomorrow I promise I'll make you something."
"Nah I'm good ma keep that. Imma walk over to Nasir house cause I know his folks went all out." Kissing his mother goodbye and flicking his brother who was chugging a pancake in his mouth off he grabbed his bag and walked out the door straight to Nasir's house.
Walking up to the house Messiah noticed a few too many cars here and proceeded to knock on the door. As the door swung open he was met with Amari as toast was falling out his mouth as he was shocked that messiah was standing in his face. "Damn nigga you just gon stare or you gon hug me." Messiah joked as Amari embraced him in a brotherly hug. "Where was you last night when I actually came home we was all blowing up your phone."
"I was out nigga all in my business." Amari joked. "Come on in come eat before it's all gone."
"Shitt ain't gotta tell me twice." Messiah said as he stepped into the house and straight to the kitchen with Amari in tow."Good morning my sons." Messiah smiled brightly.
"This nigga here." Giovanni joked stuffing some egg in his mouth making everyone laugh. "If I'm yo son can I call you daddy." Giovanni joked making everyone mug there faces up in disgust.
"Oh hell nah nigga get out my shit, we don't tolerate nun of that gay shit over here." Nasir said motioning Giovanni out. Making Amari slightly tense up but shaking it off.
"Aye chill chill , question are we supposed to be filling mar on what you brought to our attention last night." Giovanni asked looking between everyone.
"Y'all niggas should've been done that,damn must I do all the thinking around here." Messiah groaned dramatically. As Messiah, Giovanni and Nasir ran down the plan for Amir on how he wanted to officially take down the Escobars. By the time he was done Amir's jaw was scrapping the ground.
"Escobar! The Escobars the drug lord's family!?!" Amir asked trying to get a understanding.
"Yes bruh." Messiah said clearly annoyed.
"You do realize the Escobar mansion is heavily guarded. Be forreal twin we literally are just kids and out of the four of us your the only one that's had blood on their hands." Amir stated matter factly. "And yall down for this WHYYY!." He said looking towards Giovanni and Nasir who were eating like it was the last supper.
"Look mir youn gotta be apart of it. You know I wouldn't put any of yall in this mess, but you also know I wouldn't ask for something like this unless it was serious." Messiah explained.
"We brothers and if you need then know that im down." Amir said holding his hand out, messiah reached for his hand and dapped each other up before pulling each other into a hug.
"I dont wanna break up yall sentimental moment but we gotta go or we gon be late." Giovanni said grabbing a muffin and his bape backpack.
"Facts I got practice in...10 mins!!" Nasir yelled. "Oh Yeah lets roll yall not finna have me doing suicides for being tardy." He said reaching for his hoodie and duffel bag heading towards the living room for his keys.
They boys split up into cars Giovanni with Messiah and Nasir with Amir. With 2 minutes to spare the boys made it to school, As Nasir jogged off to the gymnasium and Amir to his first period class Giovanni and Messiah had the same first period so they just walked together. Once the bell rang the two were already in class so they took their seats. After class Messiah went to his locker to put all his work up being that he just got out and he was starting in the middle of the year he had alot of catching up to do. Feeling a tap on his shoulder he turned around being greeted by a girl no taller than 5'2 with the prettiest face and smile he's ever saw.
"Hey your Messiah right?" She asked with a smile showing off her pink braces and dimples.
"Yeah." He said looking down at the girl unintentionally licking his lips.
"Im Asia, they assigned me to help you adjust being this is your first week here." She says flipping her hair over her shoulder.
"They didn't need to do allat, they know I know my way around." He said frowning.
"I know we met before in our sophomore year, we had Algebra 2 together but I guess you wouldn't remember that since that same day you were escorted out in handcuffs." She said with a smile. "I know its none of my business but what did you do?" She asked now leaning on one of the lockers.
He frowned again he hated talking about his past could you blame him though he was a felon before he became a teenager. "Your right...it isn't any of your business." He growled in her face slamming his locker causing her to jump. As he walked away he realized he didn't have to overreact and be that rude as he turned around to apologize he noticed the girl was gone and he sighed turning on his heels and heading to his next class of the day.
