Elsa zipped up her shorts as she huffed in excitement. Today was a warm Wednesday, which her and Anna just got back home from school. Elsa was wearing causal outfit; wearing an old t-shirt along with shorts and dirty tennis shoes she doesn't care about. She then skipped out of her room and down the stairs but stopped at the last step. She looked at the lobby and saw how Jack was talking to Mr. Gatley which made her curious. Mr. Gatley saw Elsa from the corner of his eyes and waved her to come over. She sighed as she dragged herself not wanting to look at the face who she dislikes.
"Jack is going to help you clean the pond." Her father said out of nowhere as he grasped Elsa's shirt before she could have run away. She looked at her father as her whole face tensed in confusion.
"I already had Anna helping me since our staff won't come till their done with their after school clubs. I don't need his help." She tried to free herself from his grasp but Mr. Gatley pushed her to Jack. Jack caught her which she immediately pushed him off. He felt a little hurt but brushed it off quickly.
"Exactly what you said. I have no one and Anna is staying inside since its just me alone in the store. Plus Jack volunteered so take advantage of his kindness." Mr. Gatley waved as he turned around, walking away not wanting to fight with her daughter. Elsa huffed and walked out of the store as Jack followed right behind her. She lead them both to the back of her home where there was a small old pickup truck.
"Unlock the storage room while I unload the truck." She tossed her keys which Jack caught them by surprise.
He did as instructed and revealed himself a neat storage room filled with nets, brooms, long sticks and gallon containers. He looked back at Elsa in confusion on what to grab but she was in a middle of unloading. He caught a glimpse of Elsa bending downwards. His eyes traveled from her calves to her thighs since her legs were bare. He coughed and looked away not wanting to get yelled at for looking. Elsa hopped off the truck as she finished unloading.
"Get packed and we can get going." She took a few things out the shed which Jack took to pack.
-
"This is a pond?!" Jack yelled in shock at the so called pond. Elsa hopped off the truck as she was getting ready to clean. She grabbed a broom and hopped on each stone, excited to clean. She set the tools at the end of the first path and hopped into the stone path to the middle. She knelt on her knees and prayed for a couple of seconds as she clapped when she finished.
"My mother's pond always makes visitors amazed at her hard work. I want to keep it that way." She smiled down at the water looking at her rippled reflection. Jack groaned as he squatted as his surroundings turned gloomy. She chuckled as walked towards him to offer him to get up.
"Take this and start at least cleaning the area out." Elsa handed him a broom and a bag. He took it and walked off the stone trail to the dirt trail.
He started to sweep the dead leaves while Elsa skipped to the truck. She took out a net and gallons of liquids. She then returned to the stone path as she kicked off her shoes and stepped into the water with the net in hand. She walked in as the water got deeper but stopped right at her thighs. As Elsa collected the trash, she heard Jack cringe right behind her.
"If your worried about me being in shit water I can assure you there is no fishes or ducks that are in the pond." She looked at Jack who was at the bridge.
"Why did your mom make this place anyways?" He leaned on the railing looking down at Elsa but mostly on how the water splashed against her thighs.
"Mother always wanted to make a place that will bring people who will admire nature. Almost like an attraction but for free. She also wanted to help the forest from its false urban legend." She noticed his sudden change of posture has shifted.
"What do you mean false urban legend?" He slightly stumbled on his words trying to hide his sudden fear. Elsa smirked as she turned around trying to clean once again.
"Oh just a legend here in our town. They said that there was a sighting of a human body with a head of a goat roaming around the forest. They said it creeps around at any given time to attack anyone it sees." Jack jumped as a flock of birds flew away from a near by tree. He glupped as he started to sweep.
"Umm tell me more about your mom. What was she like?" He questioned trying to cheer himself instead of being scarred. Elsa gave a big sigh and smiled to herself as she turned to Jack.
"Mother was very sweet, beautiful and charming. She was tall with long white hair and skin slightly tanner than my skin. She was very well known in our town for her beauty that I'm surprised dad pulled my mother." She smiled as she looked down at the rippling water.
"She was Russian but my Japanese grandparents adopted her when she was just a baby. In her hometown she was very well known and respected from the elders since she was a sweet person as she grew older. She was easy to spot since she had very unique features than the japanese do so she really did stand out." She started to walk slowly to the shallow as she continued to collect the trash.
"But mother was not a kid everyone sees of her. Even my grandparents had a trouble with her since she was a wild child. She will tell us the many adventures of her childhood which are very interesting." She giggled as Jack caught a glimpse of as she walked back to the trail.
As she walked back to the path, she stepped on a rock but slipped backwards causing her to fall in the water. Jack saw her fall and ran as quickly to help her. He went in the water with his shoes on as he forgot to take them off.
"Hey are you okay?!" He helped her as he checked her head for any possible injuries. Elsa was surprised from his sudden rescue which she snorted. Jack noticed his actions and his flushed in bright pink splashing her with water.
"Is it wrong for me to worry? What if you got seriously hurt?" He got up as he took his hand out to help her get up. Elsa examined his hand as she smiled mischievously. She grabbed his hand and pulled him in the water right over her causing him to get wet.
She had an uncontrollable laughter right under him as he tried to not fall right onto her. Jack looked at Elsa under him and how close he got with her but drew his attention to her face. Her hair was stuck on her face which Jack did the unthinkable. As his fingers came in contact to her face, Elsa paused her laughter as she looked at Jack while he brushed her hair out the way.
The two were staring intensely at each other. Jack placed his wet hand on her jaw as he brought his face closer to hers. Her breath hitched as their nose brushed into each other which she closed her eyes shut. Jack then moved his thumb in between their lips as kissed his thumb stopping the kiss. Jack then pulled away, giving his signature smirk.
"That's what you get for messing around with me today." He walked off to the truck as Elsa sat in the water in a blank state.
Huh?
Then her face steamed bright red. HUH?
