I had just arrived in Rio. Fresh off the bus, there was a widow waiting for me. I tried to walk off in the other direction, but Dreykov had widows planted all over the bus station already. I tried to make my way through the crowed with out getting seen. I knew running from Dreykov and the rest of the widows was a foolish choice, but I was already running with no way back.
I looked around for an exit point. I saw one available exit but I had to go straight through the widows to get to it. I noticed Dreykov had his little pet project out, Taskmaster. Guess he had to break in the new toy.
"Вот она!" (Vot Ona: There she is!) One of the the widow's yelled as they saw me try to make a break for it.
Widow after widow, they all started after me, knowing there was no way away from them in here. I broke out into a sprint and took a sharp left and found a door saying "special authorization only". I ran in looking for something I could use to fight some of these widows off with. I had abandoned all of my gear and weapons at one of the bus stops on the way down here. I saw a few pieces of pipe. I grabbed one of them and braced myself. Just then the door flew open and Taskmaster charged at me with a knife. I moved to the right getting out of the way then came behind them and hit them in the back of the head with the pipe. Doing that barley did any damage. They quickly dropped down kicked my legs out from under me. They moved to pin me down but I had rolled out of the way fast enough to get out from under them. I quickly got up and so did they. I ran towards them and grabbed their wrist trying to restrain them. They had switched our positions and had me in a head lock with a knife to my jawline. Before they barely pierced the skin, more widows appeared.
Now surrounded, I tried not to struggle too much, then a widow spoke up. "Отдай ее мне. Я сам отведу ее к Дрекову." (Otday yeye mne. YA sam otvedu yeye k Drekovu: Give her to me. I'll take her to Dreykov myself.)
Dreykov's project just tilted their head. Seeming confused. They tightened the head lock I was in, choking me more.
"Сдай дезертира. Сейчас!" (Sday dezertira. Seychas: hand the deserter over. Now!) the one widow said. Taskmaster, who was holding me, pierced the skin completely with the knife before the widow charged at them. I was super confused as to who this widow was. She didn't look familiar at all.
Taskmaster let me go as they started fighting. I tried to make a run from all of the commotion. But as I was running I looked back to make sure no one was following me. Just then, someone had tripped me. As I fell to the ground, I felt someone grab me and cover my mouth. I tried to get out of their hold, but their grasp was too strong. They dragged me out a back exit, put something up to my neck, then it all went black.
*two days later*
I woke up in a dimly lit room. Feeling drowsy, I tried to look around. My neck had hurt and I noticed a bandage wrapped around my leg, I must have gotten cut when fighting and didn't realize it. I watched a shadow walk into the room. As they came closer to the light, I saw who it was.
Yelena.
"Yelena?" I struggled to get out while sitting up from the cot I was laying on.
She came closer to me and knelt down. Looking at me with an unreadable face. I didn't know if she was more confused and concerned, or filled with rage. After at least what felt like a minute of just staring at each other she got up and walked over to a small room. She came back telling me to get up.
