"So, Miss L/n. I hear you are quite the Assassin."

"I'm good at my job" I say staring at him.

"I like that accent. What is it? Russian?" He says gesturing to me.

"Why did you send your attack dogs to retrieve me?"

"Because your skills could be useful. Why did you not put up a fight?"

"Because I wanted out. What are my skills useful for?"

"That's classified till I see if you are in fact useful.  Wanted out of what?" He asked rising up and putting his hands on the table. I opened my mouth to answer when a knock was emitted from the other side of the closed door. "Come in" Instructed fury. The door opened and a women with red hair walked in holding what looked to be a file. "Ah Mrs. Romanoff"

"Fury we collected the file you asked for. About Y/n" She said as she glanced at me as she handed him the file.

"Thank you Natasha." My head turned to her. Surprise etched on my face.

"So you're the run away widow? The famous "Natasha"." Fury glanced between Natasha and I.

"You know her?" Fury asked pointing at the red head.

"I know of her." I corrected. I then turned my attention back towards the Ex widow. "How did you do it?"

   "Do what?"

   "Escape"

"Well obviously you already know considering you got out as well"

"Well, with the help of a man with a metal arm and another dressed in red white and blue spandex"

"So let me get this right. You're on the run from the same place Romanoff ran from?"

"Assuming she has lost her widow demeanor and hasn't lied. Yes. We both come from the Red Room where little girls are trained to become killers." At those words Natasha looks down. Fury then sits back down in his seat hands folded at his chin as an uncomfortable silence settled in the atmosphere.

"Natasha, get the avengers to S.H.E.I.L.D. by tomorrow afternoon, and bring Agent Hill to my office" She nodded and left to find the agent. As soon as the door was closed once again Fury spoke up. "To answer your earlier question, I had caught wind of the fiasco in Recife and thought it wouldn't hurt to have another badass on the team"

"Trust me, you don't want my soaking red ledger on you're team"

"Well we already have soaked ledgers on the team. What's one more?" He reassured "There was an idea called the Avengers Initiative. The idea was to bring together a group of of remarkable people to see if they could become something more. To see if they could work-"

"Save it. I'm in" I said, a smile creeping on my face.

"Excellent" He said whilst tossing his hands out to the side of him. The clicking of heels was heard and then a brunette women appeared with a tight bun at the back of her head appeared from the opening door. Fury stood to address the women and I took that as my cue to rise as well. "L/n, this is Agent Maria Hill, Hill, this is the newest avenger, Y/n L/n"

"It's nice to meet you." She stuck her hand out for me to shake, which I reluctantly took.

"You as well" She seemed surprised when I spoke, no doubt my accent.

"Hill, if you could take her to where she will be staying" Fury said as he motioned towards the door.

"Yes sir." She said nodding slightly. "Right this way" She turned around and started walking, motioning for me to follow.

                 ***

On the way to my room she gave me the rundown of the facility, telling me what people do and where things are located. As we reached the rooms she stopped at one of them. "Here is where you will be staying. If you need anything ask me or one of the agents. When the avengers get in tomorrow I assume Fury will request your appearance. I'll most likely be the one to bring you in. So be ready."

"So I get to be shown off to the Avengers like a prize dog?" I asked her

"Not quite shown off, more of introduced"

"Do I get to introduce myself? Or will fury be saying everything about me-" Maria cut me off.

"Well I'm not sure-" I cut her off too continuing with my statement.

"Because that really sounds like showing off to me"

"Just be ready" She says with a sigh.

"Ok" I say raising my eyebrows. The agent walked away leaving me alone in front of my room. I opened the door and walked in, not bothering to close the door assuming I was alone. I looked around the big room, running my hands along the walls as I started to slowly sing under my breath.

  "I can't remember if I cried

When I read about his widowed bride

Something touched me deep inside

The day the music died

So, bye-bye, Miss American Pie

Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry

And them good ol' boys were drinking whiskey and rye

Singin', "This'll be the day that I die

This'll be the day that I die""

"Where did you hear that song?" I wiped around bringing my hand on the person's wrist forcing them down. As soon as I realized it was Natasha I let go.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know it was you."

"It's alright. I shouldn't have snuck up on you" She said rubbing her wrist "Where did you hear that song?"

"Um, a friend on mine used to sing it"

   "A widow?"

   "Yes" I replied slowly
