Every Rose has its Thorns

A simple rose in a field full of dandelions. All of them holding the petals of their world right on the heads of their body, but what makes a rose different to a dandelion? It could be the colors, or the simple knowledge that a rose is not a dandelion, but what really is the difference? Is it that in the sunlight both flowers are growing high and beautiful, but in the blistering winters when the snow falls, all of the dandelions die off, but the roses stay tall. Yes I think it is that. Roses and dandelions are very similar to people. "Every rose has its thorns," so none of us want to be a rose. Prickled by the sharp fangs from its very own stem. No, we do not want that. We do not want to go through the pain that the needles in our lives has given us. No, we want to be a dandelion, growing high in the summer, a beauty to all. Nothing will hurt us when we're a dandelion. There is no prickles in sight. That is until the winter comes. It is getting colder, the rain turns to snow, and the beautiful dandelions. The ones we all sought to be because we could not handle the bleeding from the fangs on our skin, yes, all those dandelions silently fall to the death of the winter. But look at the field again. A field of thousands of dandelions, yet one single, thorny rose. Look at the rose in the winter. Growing, tall and mighty, the rose is what we are. Prickled by the sorrows of light, but glistening in the strength of the snow. We want to be something, something that does not go through the same sorrows we have gone through, but have a look at the dandelion now, crumpled under the weight of the snow. Strength is what we are, and the thorns piercing our stems did not give us that strength, but accepting those thorns and living on did.
