Amenza's POV
It was a winter. I don't remember my father. My only memory of him was him leaving me at the orphanage in Rigalpu. I was there for a couple years, I'm not sure how many, when Ophelia and Helgardner stopped by, and saw me sitting in the corner, alone. They walked, in, with everyone in awe that the King was there.
The reason I was alone was because I was a human in an orphanage of elves whilst I was a human. The kids were not the nicest, so I didn't have any friends. I just sat in the corner, reading books.
One day, while I was reading. King Helgardner was passing by with his daughter, Ophelia. He saw me by myself, a human. He noticed that I was all alone, too. I think this sparked something inside of him.
Helgardner went up to the person behind the counter. "Oh, my liege! How may I help you?" He gave a small laugh, and picked up Ophelia. "We decided to come say hi to the kids here." The man went into the middle of the somewhat small orphanage. I never learned that man's name. Sometimes when no one was around, he would, how do I put this, hit me. "Come now kids, King Helgardner is here to hang out with you guys!" The kids ran into the middle of the room, while I stayed reading.
"Amenza! Come here!" The man had always been tired of my attitude. "Sir, if I may. I don't care if he's the king. I'd much rather read." The man seemed very angry, but Helgardner stopped him, then approached me. "So, you're name is Amenza? Why're you here in Rigalpu?"
"Well, I think my dad dropped me off here a couple of years ago." The King and I both talk a little bit, and Ophelia eventually joins. We all three talked for a good bit.
"I have a question, why are you two talking to me, I WAS trying to read a book." Ophelia laughs. "I don't know how to read." Amenza laughs. "Well, you'll learn when you go to school. Anyway, the kids were expecting you to red to them, or something. I'm gonna keep reading 'The History of Rigalpu'."
Every month or so, they would come visit the orphanage, but I'm pretty sure they were just visiting me. I remember the fateful day, it was on my birthday. It was December 23rd.
"Kids! The king and the princess are here!" All of the kids come say hi, including. The royal two and I had started bonding, somewhat. The kids pushed me out of the way, so I was knocked up on the ground. I used my magic, and all the kids, excluding Ophelia, started trembling. "Why're they doing that?" The man from earlier got angry. "That's his magic, well, technically, it's mine."
"Wait, what? He has magic at the age of 7? What do you mean it's technically your magic?" The man sighs as he calms down the children. "One, we aren't sure how, but he got his magic a year ago, whenever they're supposed to get magic at 13. Two, he's 8 as of today. Finally three, his magic lets him copy any magic he sees."
A couple hours later, and a stern reprimanding, they get a cake for me. They started to sing happy birthday, when an elf kid blew out the candles, and smushed my face into the cake. Helgardner gets up to get onto the kid. "What gives? He deserved it, he's a human, not an elf!"
"It's fine. I know everyone doesn't like me, I'm just gonna go read a book." I was really mad at the time. I stormed out, and went to the corner I liked the most. I had an emotional attachment to the corner.
"Amenza?" I turned from my corner to see Ophelia, at the time she was 6. "Oh, hey Ophelia." She sat next to me. "Are you crying?" I sighed. "No, I'm just.. mad, I guess." I've never cried, as far as I know. "Daddy was really mad. He covered my ears and yelled. He's talking to the man at the counter." Soon after that, Helgardner came up to us. "What a birthday, huh? Amenza, we're gonna be back tomorrow, think you can hold out until then?" I nodded, not knowing what he was talking about.
The next day, I was doing my usual routine, which at the time was just reading. Man, I really read a lot back then. As he said he would, Helgardner came the next day. I couldn't see what he was doing, but I know he was talking to the man at the counter. He then walked into the room with the man, and the four of us in the room; me, Ophelia, the man, and Helgardner.
"Amenza, how much do you trust King Helgardner?" I gave the man a confused look. "Are you asking me if I trust the King? Are you OK in the head?" The man sighed. He then asked me more questions. By then, I knew what was happening.
I was getting adopted by the king.
A couple hours pass, and then I was walking out with Ophelia and King Helgardner, then we arrived at the royal castle. It was a nice castle, probably still is. I remember Ophelia's face as she showed me around my new home. Soon, she brought me to my room.
Over night, they had put so much in my room. A bed, a full closet, a table and chairs, and a wall dedicated to books. "Wow! So many books!" Ophelia sat in a chair. I looked and admired every book. "So, does he like his room?" Helgardner was standing in the hallway. Ophelia nodded to him.
I ran and hugged Helgardner. "Thank you so much. I don't know how I can repay you." Helgardner patted my head. "You don't need to, but, I have more plans. It's about 9 PM right now, so get some sleep, you have pajamas in that closet over there, have a good night. My room is down the hall, and Ophelia's is right next to yours." He and Ophelia left, and I was left by myself.
"I guess I'll get used to this." I got into my pajamas, then got into my moderately sized bed. "I finally have a family."
In the morning, I went to the dining table, where Ophelia is. "Well, look who's finally awake." I scoffed at her, then sat down in a chair. "It's 9 AM." Helgardner laughs. "She came down here a few minutes before you did."
After dinner, and a morning routine, Helgardner told me to come to the basement, so after asking Ophelia how to get there, I went down the stairs. The basement looked like it was outside; with grass, a miniature waterfall, and a giant rock in the middle.
"So Amenza, you might be wondering what this all is." Helgardner put his hand on my shoulder. "Well, kind of." Helgardner started walking, so I walked next to him. "There's rare cases of someone getting their magic at your age, so I decided to get you a training room. I'll have different magic type users in here for you to train against."
So, that's how I met my father figure, and my home for 4 years. That's also how I got some of my magic to use.
Wait, didn't I just faint? I should probably wake up soon, alright, one, two, three, go!
