CHAPTER FOUR
He was pretty certain that he subconsciously licked his lips when she leaned forward to create room for him on the bench and exposed more of her cleavage and he prayed that she didn't see.
It wasn't typical of him to lack self-awareness and he thought that perhaps Frank was correct this entire time. Maybe he was projecting his need to feel close to someone onto Jill and he did need to leave the house more often.
"Hi."
"Hi." He responded, feeling like an inelegant teenager on his first date.
A moment of silence fell between them and he wasn't entirely sure how to proceed. He was appreciative when Jill spoke first.
"So, you know Jane?" Jill asked.
"Um, I actually just met her tonight," he explained. "I came here with my brother, just for a little respite."
"Me, too. We all need that every once in a while."
"We certainly do."
"They're getting along well," Frank whispered to Lisa as they spied on them from across the yard.
She smirked. "I can see that. There's something between them, I can tell."
"The poor guy's face was so red. He was furious." Joe managed to get out between fits of laughter.
"Do you want another drink?" Jill offered, standing up to make her way to the small bar Jane had set up inside.
"Oh no, I don't drink alcohol, but I'll come with you."
"Do you mind if we hang out in here for a bit? The incessant cheering from the beer pong championship is starting to give me a headache."
"No, I don't mind at all. I don't think I ever want to see another keg stand in my lifetime," he joked and she giggled softly.
They vacated the party scene into a secluded, dark corner of the living room next to a small radio and sat down on the floor.
"We can have our own fun in here," she suggested.
Underneath the cabinet sat various books and games.
"I have..." Jill squinted at the box next to them. "20 questions. You up for it?"
"Sure, let's play."
She reached forward to grab the game, giving him a fantastic view of her round ass. She smoothed out her dress and put her knees together, trying to remain demure in a dress that was anything but.
"Alright." She tipped over the smaller box of cards on the floor between them and shuffled them around to her liking. "First question."
Her eyes went wide and her cheeks turned a light shade of crimson. She looked up at him and put the card down on her lap."Of course, I should have known. It's Jane's game."
"What's the question?"
She held the card to her chest so that he couldn't see it.
"I can't ask you this!"
"Sure you can," he challenged but she shook her head.
Joe's curiosity got the best of him and he reached for the card, she pulled away laughing until she was reclined on her back. Joe was almost straddling her.
"I give up. You win." She forfeited.
He sat back, balancing his wrist on his leg, which made the shape of a triangle.
