CHAPTER FOURTEEN
"Oh, Jill, you can sit across the table next to me and Cathy," Victoria prompted.
"No, I'm fine here." Jill responded in the sweetest voice she could muster up, taking the empty seat next to Joe.
She gathered the fabric of her pink dress above her thigh, giving Joe a nice view of her tanned legs as she swung them under the table.
Joe bit back a laugh at Victoria's stunned face in response to Jill's defiance. Victoria was a powerful figure in Washington and it was common practice for everyone to appease her.
The other women - even his late wife - often found themselves doing what Victoria wanted simply to avoid upsetting her and being on the receiving end of her wrath. Jill, though, didn't back down. She wasn't from Washington nor she could she be bothered to care about Washington etiquette. She was from Philadelphia and Philly women didn't surrender to pretentious women who built their wealth off of their husband's name.
As the dinner went on, Joe shifted uncomfortably in his chair as he recalled Jill's words about a "surprise" nestled within her suitcase. His imagination ran wild with all kinds of alluring possibilities.
When Jill reached forward to pick up her drink, the wrap dress gaped open slightly in the front, revealing the lace trim of her black bra. The anticipation for what was to come was nearly unbearable and he was confident that Jill sensed it too because she kept looking over at him and smiling deviously.
"Then, he came out of the ocean screaming with a jellyfish attached to him." Sarah reminisced, gaining laughter from the table as she recited her horrendous honeymoon story. Joe smiled as he watched Jill throw her head back in laughter. It was the first time on the trip he'd seen her relaxed and he was grateful for the moment of peace.
She caught him staring at her and took a long, slow sip of her margarita through a straw. He inhaled but kept her gaze.
Jill reached over and rubbed his thigh, taking note of Victoria's disapproving look from across the table. She smiled at her and turned her attention back to Joe who whispered in her ear that they'd be saying their goodbyes soon and kissed her on the cheek. She knew Victoria was seething over the fact that her attempt to create discourse between Joe and Jill had failed.
"You look hot." He complimented and she blushed at the combination of his words and his breath on her neck. "I can't wait much longer to haul you upstairs and have my way with you."
"Your way?" She whispered back. "We're doing this my way tonight."
Joe was intrigued. "As long as that means that I get to see you come hard, I'm happy to oblige."
She crossed her legs tightly, attempting to relieve some of the pressure building up between them.
"I bet you're soaked right now..."
When he was sure everyone was invested in the story John was sharing, he reached down and ran his hands up her thigh until he found his destination. His breath hitched when he discovered that she wasn't wearing anything and underneath her dress and his fingers came in direct contact with her wetness.
He looked down at her and swallowed hard. She winked at him and he wiped his fingers on her bare thighs. What a waste, he thought as he wiped off the liquid that he'd usually put in her mouth or his. He wasn't going to push it any further in public as he was already contemplating how he was going to stand up in front of his colleagues.
"And that's why I'm never drinking Spirytus again," John finished and Cathy shook her head.
"So, Jill," Victoria began and Jill fought the urge to roll her eyes. She knew something disingenuous was about to come out of her mouth.
