She looked at the hooded skeletons with aprehension. And then she had a thought. She froze and looked down at the marble floor. Death sensed this and looked back. Soon he realized what she must be thinking and stepped up to her.
"You have lives many lives Jessica." He whispered. He put a hand on her shoulder. He did not know how to comfort some one. He has not interacted with someone for so long it was hard to remember. " I have read all of your lives. And you have learned many lessons. Soon you will remember all of these but you will stay you." He whispered in a softer tone. All of a sudden Jessica hugged him burying her face in his cloak.
"Some of those bones in that room were mine weren't thay?" She whispered. She was shaking slightly. Death slowly wrapped his arms around her. No one has hugged him in such a long time, but he knew she was having a breakdown. That was normally how it happened with potential apprentices. First they were extatic about being death, and then they enter the library. It was a test of sorts, to see how they would handle the knowledge of what was their souls. And then that would happen (minus the hugging.) And then he would give them the chance of moving on. They would alway accept. He was dreading asking her if she wanted to move on. She was the only one he felt could ever take his place. But he had to ask non the less.
"Jessica." He started, he couldn't look at her and so he kept holding her. "Would you like to leave now? To move on to your next life?" He asked, able to keep his voice even. Her head snapped  up a look of astonishment on her face.
"Why would you even ask me that? I don't want to leave!" She gripped the front of his cloak as if refusing to leave. It was then that he realized that she truly was the one.
