Welcome to II :).
POV: Louis Tomlinson
"Mom, dad, I'm going to bed!"
"Good night, my sweet boy," my father says.
I give them both a kiss on the cheek and then walk to my room. There's nothing else in there besides my bed and desk, but that doesn't matter. Tomorrow, Mum and I are going to shop for a new wardrobe.
I switch on my lamp and suddenly see that the shutters are open in our neighbour's house. That's strange, they are always closed.
I walk to my window and at that moment a soft light goes on and I see someone sitting on the bed. Anne, I think.
When I narrow my eyes to focus better, I see that it's not Anne, but a boy.
Is there a boy living in that house after all? But why would Anne lie about that?I start waving happily at the boy. He waves back softly. He doesn't seem to be able to find an attitude, it seems.
Maybe we can write to each other. I gesture for him to wait so that I can get a pen and paper from downstairs, but at that moment he gestures violently.
What does he want? He points violently at his own lamp and then at me. I think he wants me to turn off my lamp.Surprised, I reach for the switch and turn off the light, so that it is now completely dark.
The boy closes the shutters again, but just before they are completely shut I see Anne standing in the doorway. She doesn't look happy...
She walks towards the boy, but I can't see any more because the shutters are completely closed.
What just happened? Is the boy okay? Why all this secrecy?
I decide to walk downstairs and share the story with my parents.
"Louis? What's wrong?"
"Ghosts in your room?" jokes my father.
"Ha ha, very funny. But no. You know the neighbour said she lived alone in the house?"
"Yes, I remember that," says my mother.
"Well, I just saw a boy sitting in the room whose shutters are always closed. He looked frightened and confused and I wanted to talk to him but then Anne came in and it looked as if she wanted to hit him so angry she looked."
"Is that so?"
"Yes, I swear!"
"Maybe it's family?" Tries my mother.
"Could be. But that's not how you look at family, is it?"
"Honey, it's dark outside. Maybe you saw it wrong."
"No, no way!"
"Strange. Shall we come back to it tomorrow? Now go to sleep darling."
She's right though. There's nothing we can do about it now anyway.
"Alright. Good night."
"Good night!"
Tired and confused, I walk back up the stairs to my room.
Back in my room, I put on my pyjamas. It is a yellow t-shirt with grey trousers that my grandmother gave me for Christmas. I don't normally sleep with pyjamas on, but I have so many fond memories of these that I sometimes put them on when I go to sleep.
I get into bed and grab my phone. I scroll a bit but my thoughts keep going back to the boy. What if she does something to him?
With a strange feeling I put my phone on the charger and put it on my bedside table. I lie down and close my eyes.
I still have to get used to all the new sounds here. Yesterday was my first night and I swear I heard someone walking around the house, but it was a cat.
Afterwards I could laugh about it.
I close my eyes and after a long time I fall asleep.
