The first bell of the day. Time to go to first period. I grab my belongings and head out my home room classroom. I never really enjoy home room. I hear about how all of the other home room teachers plan fun parties, while my home room teacher just sits back and lets us do our own thing. But at least it wasn't as bad as first period. First period is science. Now, don't get me wrong, I absolutely love science. Last year it was my best grade. But having this teacher for any first period is awful. Mrs. Gerber... she never really payed any attention to me unless I told or gave her something that would benefit her in anyway possible.
I sat down at my desk. Mrs. Gerber put me in the front. I never really understood why. I wasn't necessarily a bad kid, but I never really put any thought into it. I chose to not question things, it takes to much time. After I hear the sound of the bell ringing to end passing period, I see Mrs. Gerber get out of her seat.
"Class, I would like to inform you that over the past few days I have been seeing quite a few behavioral problems in my first period class,"
I rolled my eyes. What is she getting at?
"So I thought to fix this problem, I shall give you all new seats,"
The class groaned with annoyance. As she grabbed a piece of printer paper from her desk. I started to look around and wonder, if she did move me, where on earth would she put me?
She starts to call out names of students in the classroom and order them to their new seats. I listen for my name, hoping that she doesn't move me. It took me forever to get comfortable sitting in this spot, I'd hate to have to move now.
"Eloise White, you will be seated in front of Maria,"
My face turns pale. Why would you have to move me?! I pick up my things and toss the by my new seat. I don't try to say hi to anyone around me, I just sit down and wait for today's lesson to start.
"Alright, now that you are all in your seats, let's get started on today's lesson. We are falling behind so I'd really appreciate if we could start moving just a little faster,"
We were learning about genetics. I'd never pay attention because I had already learned all of this during the short time I was homeschooled.
Mrs. Gerber instructs the class to get out our notes from our bags. It took me a few seconds to get the energy to move down towards my bag. Once I'm ready I turn around lean over the unzip my backpack. While I'm turned around, I catch a glimpse of Maria's notes. They were all so beautifully written. How could someone put that much thought into 8th grade science notes? I get up from my bag and get a good look at Maria. Wow. She's...gorgeous. I started to stare. She's absolutely stunning-
"Eloise? Are you okay" Mrs. Gerber called out
I snap back
"Oh uh, yeah! Just had to find my notebook,"
Why did I do that? Did she notice me staring?!
I open my book and slowly start to zone out. The teacher's words slowly start to fade as I enter my own little word.
But everything is interrupted but the ringing of the bell.
I stay in my seat as everyone gets up, I see Maria walk in front of me. As she's walking out of the class, for a short second we made eye contact...then...she winked at me.
My stomach instantly fills with butterflies and my face turns red.
WHAT WAS THAT? WHY AM I FEELING LIKE THIS?
I get up with my things and run to the bathroom. I don't wanna take any chances of seeing her in the hall.
