(Madilyn's POV) Me and Evie sat on my bed while she did my makeup. Mal was looking through her spell book at my desk. "Okay easy on the blush I don't wanna scare him away...not that I could but..." I said as Evie brushed on blush on my face. "Please. My mom taught me how to apply blush since before I could talk. Always use upward strokes" Evie said "My dads not the best at makeup tips and I never knew my mom and I never had a sister" I said "Well now you do" Evie said "Two in fact" Mal chimes in as she sat down "We're gonna need all the family we can get if we don't pull this off. My mothers not a barrel of laughs when she doesn't get her way, just ask Snow White" Evie said "Are you afraid of her?" Mal asked "Sometimes. Are you afraid your mom Mal?" Evie said "I just really want her to be proud of me. She gets so angry when I disappoint her. And yeah she's my mom so I know she loves me in her own way" Mal said I grabbed her hand to comfort her. "Anyway Mads come look" Evie said "We're done?" I asked "Yeah" she said as we walked over to the full length mirror. "Wow" I said "I know" Evie said "I look" I said "Say it" Mal said "Not hideous" I smiled "Nope" Mal agreed "Not even close" Evie said leaning her head on my shoulders. Soon there was a knock on my door. Evie went over to the door and I started to follow her but Mal grabbed my hand. "Remember the mission" she said "I know" I said before going towards the door. "For the first time, I understand the difference between pretty and beautiful" Ben said staring at me and I smiled at him "I hope you like bikes" he said holding out a helmet. "It might get in the way of my hat but ok" I said before walking out the door with him. (In the forest) We stopped at a wooden bridge. "Tell me something you've never told anyone about" Ben asked me "Umm my middle name is Melanie" I said "Melanie?" Ben asked "Yup" I said "Mines Florian" he said "Florian? How princely" I laughed We got off the bridge and covered my eyes with his hands. He led me across the forest helping me since I couldn't say. "You ready?" He asked after we stopped. "Yep" I said as he took his hands off my eyes. It was an ancient looking platform above some water. We walked across the rocks and got to the platform. There was a picnic blanket and basket full of food. I took out a round thing with some gooey stuff in it. I ate a bit of it. "Is this your first time?" Ben asked "Um we don't really date on the Isle it's more like gang activity" I said "No I meant is this your first time eating a jelly doughnut?" He said "Is it bad?" I asked "You just um you um do this" he said licking his lips before I did it as well. "Gone? Can't take me anywhere I guess" I said setting the doughnut down. "You know I've done all the talking. Your turn. Tell me something about you" Ben said "Well I'm 16, I'm an only child and I've only ever lived in one place...well sorta" I said "Me too. We have so much in common already. Except what do you mean by sorta?" He said "Long story. But no we do not have anything in common. And now you're going to be king" I said "Yeah" he said "What?" I asked "A crown doesn't make you a king" he said "I'm pretty sure it does" I said "No..your father is insanely mad and I've got the poster parents for goodness. But we're not automatically like them. We get to choose who we're gonna be. And right now and I can look into your eyes and tell your not evil" Ben said "You know...my dad isn't evil. He doesn't belong on the Island" I said "Right. I'm so sorry. One day I should try to get him out and I can meet your parents" he said "My parents?" I said "Yeah your dad...and your mom" he said "My mom?" I said looking at him "Yeah" Ben said "I never knew my mom" I said "Oh I'm so sorry" he said "No no it's fine" I said "Um let's go for a swim" he said standing up. "Um what right now?" I said "Yeah come on" he said "No no I think I'm just gonna stay here" "No no no come on" he tried to grab my hand "No I think I'll just stay here and um try a strawberry, I've literally never tried a strawberry. Shocking I know" I said grabbing a strawberry "Don't eat them all" he said "No promises" I said grabbing more strawberry. I stood up to see Ben on a rock above the water. "Are those little crowns on your shorts?" I yelled at him "Maybe" he said before he roared and jumped into the water. I giggled at him. "What am I doing?" I asked myself

I walk to the edge and look around. "Ben? Ben? Ben!" I scream with no response before I jumped and try to swim over to find him. I get into a deeper part and start losing my balance. Something picked me up and carried me back to the platform. "You scared me!" I said hitting Ben's chest "You cant swim?" He asked "No!" I said "You live on an island!" He said "Yeah with a barrier around it!" I yelled at him. "And you still tried to save me?" He said softly "And do you thank me? No! All I get is soaking wet!" I said "And um this fancy rock. It's yours. Make a wish a throw it back into the lake" he said giving me a white rock. I wish my dad was off that island I threw the rock into the lake angrily. I stood up and walked back over to the picnic blanket while he followed me. I shivered before he wrapped his jacket around me. "Um Madi...I told you that I love you...what about you? Do you love me?" He asked. I turned away "I don't know what that kind of love feels like" I said "Maybe I could teach you" he said and I smiled at him.
